The Sign - The Sacred Wooden Box:

2:248 “ And their Prophet said to them: ‘Indeed, the sign of his kingdom is that a (wooden) box* will come to you bestowing tranquility on you from your Lord, and (containing) the remnants left behind by the Descendants of Musa & Haroon, and will be lifted by the angels. Of course, in it is a sign for you, if you are the believers.”

*The Wooden Box: This Verse indicated also that the things related to the Prophets and the pious people are quite sacred and blessed.

The wooden box contained the following sacred things:

a) The plates of stone which Almighty Allah gave to Prophet Musa on Toor-e-Seena (i.e. the Mount of Sinai).

b) The original Book of Torah compiled by Prophet Musa.

c) The bottle of Manna (i.e. the sweet fluid ) collected in the desert, depicting the Favor of Almighty Allah on the Descendants of Israel, and probably.

d) The Rod / Stick of Prophet Musa which exhibited great Miracles. (Tafheem-ul-Quran under 2:248)

The above Verse further indicates that such type of sacred things related to the Prophets and the Pious People carry blessings with which the invocations are accepted and victory over the enemy is achieved. The Companions kept with them the sacred things like the hair etc. of the Holy Prophet. Khalid bin Waleed, a famous Companion carried a cap on his head which contained the hair of the Holy Prophet. Khalid stated that which ever battle he fought with that cap, he emerged victorious with the blessing of the sacred hair. (Zia-ul-Quran under 2:248)
