2:235 INDICATION FOR MARRYING THE WIDOW
2:235 “And there is no sin on your part if you give an indication to such women (whose husbands have died) about (your intention of) marrying them, or which you have kept secret in your hearts. Allah knows that you will surely talk about/remember them, but don’t get any commitment from them, except that you may say (something) in an appropriate way (and in accordance with the Shariah) (i.e. you can say to her: ‘If one finds a wife like her, he will be happy.’ See the Noble Quran] And don’t commit any thing about the marriage tie, unless the waiting period ends. And know that Allah knows what is in your hearts; and, therefore, you must fear Him. And know (also) that, indeed, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Forbearing.”
2:236 THE CONDITION OF MEHR
2:236 “There is no sin on your part, if you divorce those women whom you have not yet touched them nor you have specified ‘Mehr’ (i.e. bridal money) for them. And give them something (as a gift) - this must be given by the rich according to his capacity and by the poor according to his means, and be given in a reasonable manner, as it is obligatory on the righteous.”
2:237 THE IMPORTANCE OF FORGIVENESS
![]()
2:237 “ And if you divorce them before you have touched them, and you have also specified the ‘Mehr’ for them, pay half of what you have specified, except that they give up (their right); or he in whose hand is the marriage tie (i.e. the husband) shows generosity (and pays the full ‘Mehr’). And if you show generosity, it is nearer to ‘Taqwa’ (the quality of fearing Allah). And do not forget to show graciousness amongst yourselves. Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.”
