2:233 SUCKLING
2:233 “The mothers shall suckle (i.e. feed their children their own milk from their breasts) for two complete years this (time limit) is for those (parents), who wish to complete the milk feeding (suckling) period. And on the father of the child lies the responsibility of providing their mothers food and clothing in an appropriate manner. No one (of course) is (to be) burdened but according to his capacity. And the mother should not be harmed because of her child, and nor the father due to his child. And the heir (of the father) has a similar responsibility. If (however) they decide to give up suckling with mutual consent and consultation, there is no sin on you. But if you decide (to engage a mid wife) for milk feeding your children, there is no sin on you provided you pay which you agreed (to give her) in an appropriate way. And fear Allah and know that Allah sees all that you do.” (See also 46:15; 31:14)
2:234 THE WAITING TIME OF WOMAN WHOSE HUSBAND DIES
2:234 “and those amongst you who pass away, and leave behind (their) wives, they (i.e. the wives) must wait for four months and ten days (before marrying)*. Thus, when they complete the waiting period, there is no sin on your part about what they do and suitable to them (i.e. about marriage). And Allah is All Aware of what you do.”
