COMMENTARY on BISMILLAH

(Bi Ism Allah) (In the Name of Allah)

The following points may be noted:

1. It reflects the basic faith of the Muslims in the Oneness of Almighty

Allah.

2. The blessed are those, who say:

Our Lord is Allah.

Al-Quran staes:

“Indeed those, who say that our Lord is Allah and then show perseverence, the angels will descend upon them (on their death and on resurrection); encouraging them not to fear nor to depress, and congratulating them about the(grant) of Paradise for which a (delightful)promise was made with them.” (41:30)

3. Every step of a Muslim should begin in the Name of Allah, as He is a sufficient witness on all matters, as indicated in 41:53.

4. It was through the very first revelation that the Holy Prophet was instructed to recite (to the people the Commandments of Al-Quran)in the Name of His Lord, Who created. (96:1)

5. The Holy Prophet invited the Heads of states to accept Islam by writing them letters, which commenced in the Name of Allah, Ar-Rehman Ar-Rahim. (Sahih Al-Bukhari: 4278*; Mishkat:3478*-3750*; Ibn Hashsham; Ibn Khaldun) (* It indicates the No. of Hadith.)

For example, the Holy Prophet(peace be upon him) sent the following letter to the Emperor of Rome:

" Bismillah hir Rahman-ir-Rahim. "

" This letter is from Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Messenger of Allah to Heracluis, the Leader of Rome."

" Peace be upon him, who follows the path of guidance. I invite you to Islam. Be a Muslim, you will be safe. On accepting Islam, Allah will give you a double reward; but if you reject it, the burden of sins of your people will fall upon you. "
