2:212 EFFLUENCE FOR THE NON-BELIEVERS

2:212 “ Beautified is the life of this world for the non-believers, who make a fool of the believers, whereas these pious believers will be much above them (in livelihood as well as in all matters) on the Day of Judgement. And Allah provides an unaccountable livelihood to whom He wills.”

............................................................

Al-Quran warns:

“ Let not the movement of the non-believers hither and thither (with

pomp and show) in the cities deceive you. This is just the

pleasure of a short duration, and then Hell is their destination

and that is the worst destination. But for those, who feared their Lord,

there are Gardens (of Paradise) under which the rivers flow…”

(3:196-198)

Simple living of the Holy Prophet :

Although the Holy Prophet was granted the keys of the treasures of this world (Bukhari:6062), he led a very simple life, as indicated below:

Umar bin Khattab visited with the Holy Prophet and found him lying on a bed made of date stalks, which produced impressions on his body. There was nothing attractive in his room (and there was no regular bed for him). Only three raw skins were hanging on the wall there. On seeing that Umar submitted: ‘ Allah’s Messenger! Please pray to Allah to grant livelihood to your Ummah in abundance, because the people of Persia and Rome, although they do not worship Allah, have been given abundant livelihood.’On hearing that the Holy Prophet, who was resting (on some thing), sat down straight and said: “ Ibn Khattab! Do you (also) say like this…Indeed, they (the non-believers) have been quickly given the luxuries in this world..” Umar then requested him to seek forgiveness for him from Allah. (Bukhari:4895, Mishkat:5009)

With regard to the food of the Holy Prophet , note:

a) He never took cooked bread nor roasted meat of

goat till his death. (Bukhari:5070)

b) He never spread the cloth nor used a plate/dish for eating, although the

people at that time spread the cloth for eating. (Bukhari:5099)
