UMRAH & HAJJ
(See also commentary on 2:124-129)
Here Hajjatul Wida performed by the Holy Prophet
will be stated:
HAJJATUL WIDA
(In Hajjatul Wida, the Holy Prophet
obtained the benefit of Umrah with Hajj in the same Ihram.)
The Holy Prophet
left Al-Madina Al-Munawwara on the 25th of Zi-Qad of 10th Al-Hijra (Bukhari:1633). Reached Zul-Halifa (which is not more than ten kilometers from Madina). He put on Ihram there, and offered two Rakat. Took Hadi (animals) with him. Mounted his camel (Qaswa), and recited Talbiya, when it stood up and straightened. Reached Mecca on 4th Zil-Hajj (Mishkat:2444). THE HOLY PROPHET
commanded:
“Those who have brought Hadi (animal) with them, they will not become Halal (lawful) (i.e. will not put off Ihram, and the restrictions imposed by it will not be removed) until they complete the Manasak of Hajj. But those, who have not brought Hadi (animal) with them, they must perform Twaf of Kaba, conduct Sai between As-Safa & Al-Marwa, and get their hair cut off before (putting off Ihram and) becoming Halal (lawful). (In this way, they will complete Umrah first and put off Ihram). Then they should put on Ihram again, perform Manasak of Hajj and slaughter Hadi (animal). And whosoever can not afford Hadi, he must fast for three days during the days of Hajj, and fast for further seven days on returning home. (Note that The Holy Prophet brought Hadi from Zul Halifa, and Ali brought Hadi from Yemen. Both of them thus performed Umrah & Hajj in the same Ihram)
The details of Hajjatul Wida (as well as Umrah) (in the same Ihram) performed by the Holy Prophet
are as follows:
1. Twaf:
The Holy Prophet
kissed Hajr Aswad (i.e. the Black Stone), performed Twaf of Kaba while moving swiftly in the first 3 rounds but normally in the last four rounds. Came to Maqam-e-Ibrahim and recited:
“ Wattikhizoo Mim Maqam-e-Ibrahim-a- Musalla” [i.e. ‘ And you must take Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as the place for offering prayers.’] He then offered two Rakat at Maqam-e-Ibrahim by reciting Surah Al-Kafirun (Surah No.109) in the first Rakat and Surah Al-Akhlas (Surah No.112) in the second Rakat, after reciting Surah Al-Fatiha. He then returned to the Black Stone and kissed it.
