2. Sai at As-Safa & Al-Marwa:

On reaching As-Safa, the Holy Prophet recited the Verse:

“Innas-Safa Wal-Marwata Min Shairillah…” He then climbed As-Safa till he saw Kaba. On facing Kaba, he recited: ‘ La ilaha Illallaho wahdahu la sharikalahu lahul Mulko walahul hamdo wa Huwa ala kullay shain Qadeer; la ilaha IllallahoWahdahu anjaza wadahu wa nasara abdahu wa hazamal ahzaba Wahdahu.’

He recited the above words thrice and prayed (to Allah) in between. He then came down from As-Safa and moved towards Al-Marwa. On reaching the lower portion, he ran till he started to climb Al-Marwa, where he moved slowly. He recited the same at Al-Marwa which he recited at As- Safa. The Holy Prophet then commanded: “ Whosoever has not brought Hadi (animal) with him, he must get his hair of head cut off and must become Halal (lawful) (by putting off Ihram) so as to make it Umrah…”

[Since the Holy Prophet and Ali brought Hadi with them, they remained in Ihram for performing

Hajj.]

4. Mina:

Then the Holy Prophet proceeded to Mina on the day of tarwiyah. On reaching Mina, he offered Zuhar, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers. When the sun rose, he waited for some time (in connection with his tent) and then proceeded to Arafat.

5. Arafat:

On reaching the central part of the valley of Namra in Arafat, he delivered a speech:

“ Your blood, your wealth are as sacred to you just as this Day (of Arafat i.e. 9th Zil-Hajj), this month (of Zil-Hajj), and this city (of Mecca). Beware! Every thing of the Days of Ignorance is under my feet…Fear Allah with regard to your wives…I am leaving behind you such a thing that if you hold it fast, you will not be misled, and that is the Book of Allah (Al-Quran). You will be asked about me (on the Day of Judgement). What will you say (about me)?” His Companions replied: ‘ We will say that you delivered the Message (of Allah) and the Trust…’ The Holy Prophet raised his finger towards the heaven… and said: “ O’ Allah! Be a witness.” He repeated such words thrice.

Then his Companion Bilal stated Azan (the call for prayers) and then Aqamat (Takbir). The Holy Prophet led Zuhar prayers. Bilal again stated Aqamat (Takbir), and the Holy Prophet led Asr prayers without offering any Nafl (Sunnat) in between. Then he mounted his camel and came to the vast area of Arafat. He faced Kaba and stayed there till the sun set off. He then proceeded to Muzdalfa (immediately) (without offering Maghrib prayers).
