1:5 - 1:7 THE STRAIGHT PATH

“(O’ Allah!) Guide us to the straight Path - The Path of those whom

You favored. And not the path of those who earned Your wrath, nor

the path of those who were misled (or went astray).”

1.The Straight Path is the one to which Almighty Allah guides the people through His Holy Prophet and Al-Quran (5:15,16).

Al-Quran again states:

“And surely, you (Holy Prophet) guide (and invite) them to the Straight

Path.” (42:52;23:73)

Further:

“ Al-Quran is the Guidance (and Reminder)

for Muttaqeen (believers) and for whole mankind. (2:3,185)

2. Al-Quran states in clear words that if you want to be guided, you must follow him (i.e. the Holy Prophet) (7:158), and that if you wish to love Allah (Almighty), you must follow His Holy Prophet. (3:31)

3. The Holy Prophet said:

a) “ I am leaving for you two things. So long as you hold them firmly,

you will not be misled. These are Allah’s Book (Al-Quran) and my

Sunnah (Way of living).” (Moatta-Mishkat:176) *5890)

b) “ I am leaving for you two things so that if you hold them firmly,

you will not be misled-the Book of Allah & my family. (Mishkat:*)

“ Of course, the best Statement is the Book of Allah (Almighty) and

the best Way (of living) is the Way of Muhammad.(Peace be upon

him.) (Muslim-Mishkat:133)

4. THE PATH OF ISLAM

All paths except that of Islam are the paths of the devil. The Holy Prophet demonstrated it by drawing a straight line and then said:

“ It is the Path of Allah (Almighty).”

He then drew other lines to its right and left, and said:

“ These are the paths on each of which there is a devil inviting the people

towards him.” The Holy Prophet then recited the Commandments of

Allah (Almighty) mentioned in the Verses 6:151-153*, declaring it as his

Straight Path. (Ahmad, Nisai, Darmi-Mishkat:158).
