4. Al-Quran further states in 4:136,as below in this regard:

“O’ you who believe! Believe in Allah, and His Messenger (Muhammad-

peace be upon him), and the Book (Al-Quran), which He has sent down

to His Messenger, and the Book(s) which He sent down before. And

whosoever refutes Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and

the Last Day, he, of course, has gone far away (from the Straight Path).”

5. The Holy Prophet defined ‘faith’ as below:

“ The ‘faith’ is that you believe in Allah, His Angels,…, His Messengers,

and the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari:50)

6. The elements of faith and the deeds mentioned in Verse 2:177 above provide an abundant food for thought for the Muslims also so that they may become truthful.

7. The above elements of faith and the deeds are, in fact, the articles of truth or goodness (Al-Birr), mentioned in 2:177 above, which lead to Paradise.

The Holy Prophet said:

a) “ You must hold fast the truth (and do not conceal or distort it), since it

guides towards Al-Birr (goodness), which leads to Paradise.”

(Bukhari & Muslim- Maarif-ul-Hadith, Vol.II, Hadith No.194)

[Note: The Jews concealed and distorted the truth about the Last Prophet.]

b) “ The truth (Sidq) is the source of satisfaction.” (Mishkat:2653)

[Note that the Holy Prophet even before declaring his Prophet-hood was known amongst the people as ‘The Trustworthy’(Al-Ameen)and ‘The Truthful’ (As-Sadiq).]

c) On a question about Al-Birr (goodness) and sin, the Holy Prophet

united his fingers and struck the breast of the questioner ,and then stated:

“ Get the verdict from your heart .” The Holy Prophet stated

that thrice, and then said: “ Al-Birr is that with which the inner self

(an-Nafs) gets satisfaction, and the heart is (also) satisfied with it;

whereas the sin is that which pricks your heart and creates disturbance

in the breast, even though the people give a different verdict.”

(Ahmad, Darmi-Mishkat:2654)
