2:168 EAT PIOUS FOOD & DO NOT FOLLOW THE DEVIL
2:168 “ O mankind! Eat the lawful* and pious things from the earth
(i.e. which are internally and externally pious and likeable), and do not
follow the foot steps of the Devil.* Indeed, he is your open enemy.”

*Lawful & unlawful:
The Holy Prophet
said:
“ The lawful is clear, and the unlawful is also clear. In between the two,
however, there are certain matters, which are ambiguous (not clear)
(‘Mutashabihat’).Most of the people don’t know about such matters.
Whosoever, therefore, saved himself from the doubtful things, he
purified his religion as well as his honor; and whosoever indulged in
the doubtful, he went into the unlawful (‘Haram’), just as a shepherd
grazes his animals near a meadow (which is unlawful). There is every
possibility that the animals may start grazing in the (unlawful) meadow.
Beware that every king has his meadow (so that any outsider moving
into it will be punished). And beware that the Meadow of Allah (Almighty)
is His unlawful things (so that whosoever indulged in it, he is punished).
Again beware that there is a piece of meat in a body (human body).
If it is correct, the whole body is correct; but if it upsets, the whole
body upsets. And beware that it is the heart (of human body).”
