2:169 THE DEVIL INSTIGATES TO COMMIT SHAMEFUL ACTS
2:169 “Of course, he (the Devil) instigates you to commit evil and shameful acts (like drinking, gambling, committing adultery etc.), and orders you to attribute such things to Allah, of which you have no knowledge (,at all).” (See also 24:19,21;2:268)
The next Verses state that the non-believers follow blindly their forefathers (as well as their traditions) (without caring for the lawful or unlawful).
2:170,171 BLIND FOLLOWING
2:170 “ And when they (i.e. the non-believers) are asked to follow what Allah has revealed, they say: ‘ No, we will follow the path on which we found our forefathers’; though their fathers neither understood anything nor they were guided (to the Right Path).
2:171 “ And the example of those, who disbelieved (and blindly followed their misguided fathers)* is like the person, who shouts at his animals which they listen not (i.e. its meaning) except his hue and cry. Such people are dumb, deaf, and blind; and they don’t understand, at all.”

Blind following:
i) Islam is the religion of knowledge, wisdom and logic.
(3:18;4:168’174;22:54;35:28;39:9;58:11)
ii) Blind following has been rejected in the Holy Quran:
(See5:104;7:28,39,70;11:62,87,109;28:36;26:72;7:173;27:65-69;43:21-24;37:69-71;21:52-54 etc.)
iii) Al-Quran, however, advocates following the guided forefathers. For example, Prophet Yousaf (Joseph) told his fellow prisoners that he followed the community of his forefathers …(12:38). The sons of Prophet Yaqub (Jacob) promised their father at the time of his death that they would worship his and his fathers Ilah (God) (2:133)
