2:165 OPPONENTS FOR ALMIGHTY ALLAH- LOVE FOR ALLAH

2:165 “ There are some from the mankind, who take others, setting aside Allah, as (His) opponents (for worshipping), and love them so much as they should have loved Allah; but those who believe (i.e. the true Muslims), they love Allah to the highest extent. And it would have been better, if the non-believers realize at this time rather than realizing on seeing the torment, when they will admit that the power entirely belongs to Allah; and, indeed, Allah is quite severe in (giving) punishment.”(See also 2:22;4:77;14:30;29:10,11;34:33;41:9)

Love for Allah: Rather than loving Almighty Allah, the non-believers love others, whereas He alone created the Universe, and provided us the means for living. These are the true Muslims only, who love Almighty Allah and His Messenger more than any thing else in this world.. The practical way of loving Allah is to follow His Holy Prophet, as commanded in the Holy Quran. (3:31) The Companions of the Holy Prophet loved him so much that they even quarreled with one another to get the ablution water left over by him (in the utensil). (Bukhari:185,186) When the Holy Prophet asked them, why they did like that. They replied: “ Because of our love with Allah and His Messenger.” On that the Holy Prophet said:

“ Whosoever wishes to love Allah & His Messenger or that Allah & His Messenger love him, he must speak the truth, return with honesty the trust kept in his custody, and prove to be a good neighbor.” (Mishkat:4771)

Abbas bin Mardas, a companion of the Holy Prophet presented a poem in the Battle of Hunain, which states as below:

“ O’ Last of the Prophets! You are the Messenger with truth…Allah (Almighty) has created love amongst His creature on the basis of their love with you…”(Seerat-un-Nabi by Ibn Hashsham, Vol.2, pages 552,553 (published by Ghulam Ali & Sons, Lahore.)

The Holy Prophet said:

a) “…None of you will be a believer, until I am loved by him more than his parents and the entire mankind.” (Bukhari:15)

b) “ …Indeed, you will be with the one (on the Day of Judgement), whom you love…” (Bukhari:5815)

c)“ No one gets the sweetness of faith, unless he loves any one for the sake

of Allah (Almighty) only…” (Bukhari:5694)

d)“ When Allah (Almighty) loves any one,…every one begins to love him.”

(Bukhari:5693)

The Holy Quran states:

“ Those who believed and performed good deeds, Ar-Rehman (Allah) will

create love for them.” (19:96)
