a) In the Battle of Ahzab: The Holy Quran appreciates the morale and the endurance strength of the Companions of the Holy Prophet in these words:
O’ You, who believe! Remember…when the armies of the enemy
attacked you from above and below, and when the eyes became
wild, and the hearts came up to throats…It was here the believers
were tested and severely shocked. (33:10,11) And when the believers
saw ‘Al-Ahzab’ (the armies of the enemy) (they were not, at all,
discouraged, but rather) they said: ‘ This is exactly what Allah &
His Messenger promised us…’ and these (huge armies) did nothing,
but strengthened their faith…(33:22) And Allah forced the
non-believers to retreat (in their) wrath…”(33:25)
b) In the Battle of Hunain, the enemy who was, defeated in the beginning, attacked the Muslims, when they were busy in collecting the war booty. The expert archers of the enemy forced them to run away. The Holy Prophet (who stood like a rock all alone in the battlefield) was riding a white mule on that day, and was calling (the Muslims in these words):
I am the Prophet, and there is absolutely nothing false in it. I am the son
of Abdul Mutlib.” (Bukhari:4063,4062)
The Holy Quran states the above event in these words:
Of course, Allah granted you victory in many places as well as
on the Day of ‘Hunain’, when you became proud of your numerical
strength, but it did not help you, at all; and the land with all of its
vastness, became short to you, with the result that you ran away. Then,
Allah sent down His peace (‘Sakinah’) on His Messenger
(Muhammad-peace be upon him) and on the believers, and
brought down the armies (of Angels) which you could not see,
and punished the non-believers…” (9:25,26)
(Note: In the next Verse 2:158,As-Safa & Al-Marwa have been mentioned as the Signs of Allah, since it was here, where Hajirah, the wife of Prophet Ibrahim faced dauntlessly all alone the problem of water and food in the desert of Mecca, where no body was living at that time. She ran up and down there alone over the hills in search of water for her thirsty and crying baby (Prophet Ismaeel). The pilgrims have been commanded to move and run over such hills , where Hajira ran the Signs of Allah. (Note: Without moving and running on such hills, Hajj & Umrah remains incomplete.)
