TEST

In the above Verses, the Muslims have been alerted that they will be tested about their faith in Islam. (May Almighty Allah protect and save us.)

Al-Quran states at another place:

“ Or do you think that you will enter Paradise, whereas you have not yet

passed through the condition as confronted by the people before you?

Severe troubles and calamities were inflicted upon them, and they were

shocked to such an extent that the Messenger and his companions spoke

out: ‘ When will the Assistance of Allah come?’ Beware that the Assistance

of Allah is surely near.” (2:214) (See also 3:142;9:16)

The Holy Prophet said:

“ …Pray to Allah to grant tranquility…” (Bukhari:2804)

The Holy Prophet never abandoned the following words every morning and evening:

“ O’ Allah! I pray to You to grant me (peace and) tranquility (‘Afiyyat’) in this world and the Hereafter…”] [“ Allahumma inni asalukal afiyata fid dunya wal akhiratay; Allahumma inni asalukal afwa wal afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali…”] (Abu Daud-Mishkat:2286)

PERSEVERANCE / ENDURANCE OF THE HOLY PROPHET:

Since a great responsibility of watching humanity over their deeds has been entrusted upon Ummah Wusta, they have been commanded above (2:153-157) to show patience and perseverance in difficulties. The Holy Prophet himself showed the highest courage and perseverance in crisis and in dangerous occasions, as is visible from below:

a) In Al-Madina: Anas reported that the Holy Prophet was the most generous, handsome and courageous of all the people. He stated that on a certain night, when the people of Madina were frightened, the Holy Prophet rushed towards the voice (apparently of the enemy) (all alone). The people (also) (after some time moved towards the voice, but on their way, they) found the Holy Prophet returning towards them, as he was the first amongst them, who rushed (all alone) towards the (dangerous) voice. The Holy Prophet encouraged them by saying: “ You have not to fear.” At that time, he was riding the horse of (his companion) Abu Talha, with no cradle on it, and his sword was hanging from his neck. The Holy Prophet (delightfully) stated: “ I found this horse like the sea (i.e. like the fast sinusoidal wave of the sea).” (Bukhari:5686)

The Holy Quran summarizes the condition of the Muslims at that time in these words:

“ And remember, when you were small in number, recognized as

weak in the land, and were scared of people about snatching you

away ; but He (Allah) provided you a place of security,

supported you with His Assistance, and gave you the pious things

for living so that you may be grateful.” (8:26)
