2:149 “ And from where ever you come out (for prayers), turn

your face towards Masjid Hara’m,* and, indeed, this is the

truth from your Lord; and Allah is not unaware of what

they do.”

[* The under lined part has been repeated in 2:150 below,

showing the extreme importance of the direction for prayers.]

To find the direction of Qiblah in Pakistan:

At 14:26 hours of Pakistan Standard Time on 16th July, or at14:17 hours on 17th May (when the sun is exactly at the top of Ka’ba), determine the direction of the shadow of a rod fixed vertically upwards in ground under the sun. A straight line drawn along the direction of the shadow of the rod and in its opposite direction, establishes the direction of Qiblah. The angle that this straight line makes with respect to the West may be determined with the help of a magnetic compass, and may be used for setting the direction of mosques, before their construction in Pakistan. In the city of Faisalabad, the direction of Qiblah is 10.5 degrees from the West towards South.

Note: For calculating the direction of Kaba mathematically, from any place, see the following web site on the internet:
