2:143 UMMAT-e-WUSTA
Ummat-e- Wusta: (The Muslim Ummah with the best/optimum values):
2:143 “And like wise (i.e. like the best choice of the Prophet
in the matter of Qiblah), We have made you you (O’ Muslims!)
the best Ummah (nation) (with optimum/intermediate and
excellent values in all matters, without any extremism, at all), so
that you may be the witness on the deeds of mankind, and that
the Messenger (Muhammad-peace be upon him) be the witness
on you (as the Leader of the entire mankind)*. And We did not
assign Qiblah (to you) on which you (Holy Prophet) remained
up till now (i.e. Al-Aqsa Mosque), but to distinguish those, who
follow the Messenger, from those who revert on their feet. And,
of course, this (Commandment) was quite heavy except upon
those whom Allah guided; and, of course, Allah will not
destroy your faith (i.e. the reward for your previous prayers,
offered towards Al-Aqsa Mosque will not be destroyed). Surely,
Allah is Most Kind, Most Merciful towards the people.”

The Best Ummah:
i)This Ummah geographically occupies the best position, with its Kaba/ Mecca occupying the central position between the dense populations of the East and West, even though 14 centuries have passed away. Historically, Kaba has been free from all sorts of turmoil, and has been a place of tranquility in the entire world. It is a peaceful place for the assembly of all Muslims and for performing Hajj, when compared with Masjid Aqsa, which was destroyed many a times, and has been a place of conflict between the Jews, Christians and Muslims for several centuries. With its central position, this Ummah can conveniently watch the entire world.
