Non

"Non" is the Uzbek word for bread. Bread plays a significant role in the Uzbek culture. There are many customs dealing with how bread is handled. Such customs include:
-not cutting the bread with a knife (ripping it instead),
-never placing it face-down on a table,
-never letting it drop on the ground,
-if it does drop on the ground then you have to kiss it and put up in a higher place for the birds/animals,
-and never throwing it away.

Bread varies between the different areas of Uzbekistan. I have taken many pictures of non from different places and I hope to continue to add to this collection during my return visits to Uzbekistan.
