UZBEKISTAN

I spent two years and some odd number of months in the country of Uzbekistan (January 2003-April 2005). I was a Peace Corps Volunteer. During my service, I was an English teacher to elementary students. My site was Dormon village, close to the capital of Tashkent. Uzbekistan is located in Central Asia, nestled between the countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan. To find out more information about the country itself, visit this link:Uzbekistan. My experience during those years are unexplainable, everything from the food, to the culture, to shopping in the bazaars, to the day-to-day activities. Ive tried to put my experience into pictures which I have included some on the website. Even still, those dont tell the whole story, but they give some idea. While the frustrations and stress was apart of my time in Uzbekistan, I also learned a lot about myself and met wonderful people that will always hold a special place in my heart. The most special person of course is my husband, Shokir Khojamov. We met and married during my service in Uzbekistan (you can read more about us on our wedding page). I hope that you enjoy looking at my pictures and they will give some insight as to what Uzbekistan is like.
