Use this list suggestively. You might not want to bring everything on this list, especially if you're needing to travel lightly. If you're hitch-hiking to the gathering or getting a ride in a car with a few others and space is limited you're going to want to take less along. Also consider that there is often a long hike into the gathering, sometimes even a few miles. Although a hatchet or bow saw could be very useful, not every person that comes to a gathering needs to bring one. A shovel as well could be a bulky item to travel with and can probably be borrowed when one is needed. Don't bring more clothes than you'll wear and consider bringing clothes you wouldn't mind wearing for a few days perhaps. There may be other items you feel are essential to you that aren't on this list. It's worth it to sit and think about what you will want when camping in the woods for a stretch of time. I sometimes look around and try to figure out what I might like to trade at the trade circle. Perhaps something you no longer need or use but would be of value to someone else. Gems and crystals, beads, clothing, books, jewelry... these are a few things you could consider for trade. Also remember... whatever you bring into the gathering, be sure to take with you when you leave. Don't leave it for someone else to clean up.
