Dog Fur Colors
|
Of course, there is no limit to what your dogs' colors will be; they are your drawings, anyway, and your characters. However, for those wanting to go more realistic with dogs, this tutorial will show you the natural fur colors of dogs. Think of the possible colors of a dog arranged in a color wheel. There are lighter and darker, duller and more vivid colors.
The simpler, duller colors of a dog range from your common black, grey, white, and brown. Cream can be obtained by adding a very light ammount of grey. There is also this color known as "blue," but it's not really the rainbow color blue; it's a sorta metallic grey color.
Near the lighter side of the colors gives us gold, tan, and "yellow," a light mix of gold and tan. There is also "red," which really includes any of the other colors mentioned, with a hint of red in it. Sable is a rather interesting color; in fact, it's a transition of colors on each strand of fur. The top color is always black. But the other two can be a mix of gold, yellow, silver, grey, or tan.
These are the general colors of all dogs. There are a few others that are even more mixes of other colors, but these should be enough to get some ideas for your dogs.
