For The Life Of Me - The Other Paper Review

Hats off to Richard Ades of The Other Paper for writing
a full page covering all three nights of Theatre Roulette
programming.

The following is excerpted from the BLOOD section of the review
that ran in the May 31, 2001 edition of The Other Paper.

BLOOD

None of the three plays in the Blood collection is perfect,
but one is short enough to be a painless diversion, while the other
two are marked by good writing and acting.

John Dranschak's For the Life of Me begins as a pregnant young
widow prepares to kill herself rather than face life without her
husband. Before she can do herself in, though, she's visited by a
stranger who mysteriously knows the details of her life.

Viewers won't take long to peg the stranger as none other than her
future son, making this the kind of time-travelling tale that science
fiction fans have seen before. What sets it apart is the emotional
depth of Dranschak's dialogue and the skill with which Krista Apple
and Jeff Horst deliver it.
