| We are friends they told me. We'll never forget you, they said. I wish that was true, but it is not. We all forget, we all move on. I learned this the hard way, the way that life teaches us. I see you years later, you pass by. You've forgotten, you' ve done what you said you would not do. You've done what we all have done. No one remembers the past, they only remember their version of it. I walk on, surrounded by my new friends. Friends that will not leave me. They are always there for me. We turn for home, and out of the corner of my eye I see you once again. I'm sad that you've forgotten, but then they all do. So I go home. I go back to the darkness. Back to my friends that whisper to me . |
