More Terrariums  -- Oh the Insanity
55 gal Bog Terrarium (2007)
At some point, just about anybody is going to run out of room for more terrariums.  That is even truer for those of us living in apts or trying to keep a terr at work.  These two tanks have pretty much maxed out my space I regret to say.  But at least I can fit more in them.  You may click on a thumbnail if you wish to get a larger image

I have a couple friends Tammy & Tom, to thank for this one.  His father raised cichlids for a while and this was the breeder tank.  Having grown tired of the hobby, his dad wanted to get the tank out of the house.  So when my birthday rolled around ...
Though I knew I wanted to get a large tank at some point, I really did not expect to have this at this point in time.  However, while driving around one day over the summer, I happened upon a garage sale.  $75 for the tank & stand -- I just couldn't pass that deal up.

Both of these terrs are still works in progress to at least some extent.

The HUGE AV in the bog terr will be coming out at some point.  It was a rescue off "death row" at Lowes.  Initially I just wanted something that would hopefully add a bit of color.  However, it really went to town -- tripling in size.  Until it comes out, progress in that tank is at a standstill.  The tepuis and temple are made out of cement.

The 90 gal terr has a number of mini AVs as well as orchids, some Selaginella and a fern.  Some of the AVs will be going into the bog terr once the huge AV is gone.  As you probably noticed, there are a number of plants that are still obviously in pots.  While I am the first to admit that it would look better to have no pots at all, that is not likely to change.  I like to enter my orchids in shows.  Keeping them in pots is the only practical way of keeping their removal from the terr easy and minimizing trauma for the plants.
