Margaret Agnes married Daniel Rakes in Aptos, CA on 23 OCT 1937.  Daniel was the son of Kent Crockett Rakes and Icle Ruth Astleford. They were married at the Freedom Town Hall.

Agnes and Danny were married in the days of "shiverees" and all sorts of practical jokes played on the couple were the way of things.  Agnes told the story of how their friends put broken walnut shells under the carpet, so that when she walked down the aisle, the floor sounded like it was going to fall through!

Agnes and Danny had three children:

Helen Marie, LIVING
Margaret Corinne, born 07 AUG 1943
Danita Sue, LIVING

Danny was a farmer/rancher most of his life, and drove a mail truck from O'Neill NE to Bonesteel SD when farming became no longer financially feasible.  He retired to Bonesteel, but never really stopped working.  He died 04 NOV 1990 at the age of 76,  and is buried in Butte, Boyd Co., NE.

Agnes inherited a "gypsy" gene and once she left California the first time, she never stopped traveling.  She loved collecting rocks, and often reminded me of the old Lucille Ball/Desi Arnez movie "THE LONG, LONG TRAILER".   (If you haven't seen it, it is about a couple traveling across country with a travel trailer.  Every time they stopped, she added more rocks, until finally the trailer was too heavy to pull.  That was definitely OUR MOM.)  She died in Laughlin, Clark Co.,NV on 10 MAR 1982 and is buried, rock hammer in hand, at the community cemetery in Searchlight, Clark Co., NV
Danita Sue married Montgomery W. Darrow in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ.  They had one child:  Margaret Sue, LIVING
Danita Sue married Ronald J. Bufford in Las Vegas, Clark Co., NV.  They had one child:  Victoria LaVerne, LIVING
