Bananafish
-For the sister/daughter lost.

I�d only call her bananafish if she were sad.
It would never do to call a happy little girl �bananafish,�
their whole existence being so tragic and all.

When she�s happy I�d call her any number of things
but bananafish is strictly for those dark days
when playing outside doesn�t seem quite so fun
and the dollhouse feels too empty.

Bananafish is only for those long days,
which drag in such a way that I wouldn�t notice,
and each hour ticks by with a certain dread 
only bored little girls would know.
