A very special highlight of our visit!
Friday, August 11, we attended a Gala CD Release Party held by two of our very favorite folksingers, Lou and Peter Berryman. We named our car "Dr. O's Rocketship" after one of their hilarious songs. They very kindly autographed their new CD for us and posed for a photo with "Dr. O."
On Saturday, August 12, Owen and his brother Bryan attended the magnificent Great Taste of the Midwest beer-tasting festival, a truly outstanding affair. Meanwhile, Anne took Emrys to see Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon.
On Sunday, August 13, the Smith clan gathered for a champagne brunch followed by a gathering at Bryan and Annie's house to celebrate Owen's 40th birthday. Here's a shot of the Smith adults!

Not to be macabre or anything...
but Owen's 40th birthday cake featured black balloons, a vulture sitting in a tree, and a tombstone!
Blowing out the candles took a while--Mom and Dad got the kind that relight!
