T-Shirts
Codi talked about if we wanted t-shirts what we thought they might look like and what kindof styles or things we want for them. So far we have a concensus that yes in fact we do want to get t-shirts. The t-shirts that were demonstrated were a regular t-shirt and a baseball tee. The regular tee was grey and looked fairly plain. it had a website on the back which is one aspect we might have on the back of our tees. it also had a small logo off centre, which we also will most likely put on our shirts. The baseball tee was plain but it was the style we were looking at. The baseball tee is unique and yet uniform. The sleeves are not quite long sleeves and still not short. The main part (torso) of the shirt is white but the sleeves are green (and can be other colours). The pros to this design is that the main shirt can be white which is the easiest colour to print onto while the sleeves are still varied and the youth can choose which colour they would prefer and at the same time not confuse the screen printing process. The baseball tees won at the meeting. What else was brought up about the t-shirts was who would get them what the cost would be and what the logo will look like. The cost will yet to be determined as we have not yet found a place that sells baseball tees and we have not decided which method we will use to put the logo and website on the shirts and which will be more costly and effective. Once the prices are found out we can determine a set price and from there find out sizes, who wants what and whether we want to let others buy shirts. We also are working on designing a logo for our youth group. We will take our time with this because we want every one to be happy with the design and we want every one to have their say and intput in its creation. many ideas havce already been brought up but you all have until Sept 19 to jot down and think about designs or things you would like to have in the logo. Spet 19 will be the day we work on putting them together and I think Eric will throw some logo samples together for us. Enough of that.
Newsletter
What we were trying to decide at the meeting on the newsletter was if we really wanted one and who would do it. We didn't really get down to deciding either. Until March I was putting a newsletter together that detailed the upcoming 2 months in what was going on for the youth. It detailed what would be happening each night and there were also some columns just for fun and telling about outside opportunities for fun and experience. I don't have the time or the energy any more to put together the newsletter so I am looking for some one else or multiple people to come forward (who are younger than grade 12) who I can teach and help them to design their own newsletter style. We tried to decide at the meeting if we wanted a newsletter to go at all and Johnathan suggestted that we send in things to the regular church newsletter. This was a good idea and if we want that to happen then first we need to get every one on the church mailing list then secondly get some one who actually would like to put together info and such then submit it to the church newsletter. As of yet there are no volunteers for that and we can't do anything with it until we have some one to do that. We also needed to decide if our own newsletter would go as well every two months because the church newsletter goes quarterly which means we need to have things for every season or every three months (including summer which we don't do anything and we have most likely already missed out on putting something in the fall newsletter) which means we only have two inputs for this next year. Besides that the most important things that did not get decided was who would be putting these things together what we would actually like in the newsletter(s) and whether we are actually going to get things organized for this to happen.
Website
The first thing was that wth me graduating at the end of this year and not returning to youth group the next year, the website will be unattended until some one else comes up and decides to do something. SO what I was planning to do was get some one or many people involved in the website so they can keep it running with out me and I can concentrate on grade 12 and graduating. It will also be good for some one to step forward now so I can find time to help them through the website and such. THe next thing which is probably the most important of everything to do with the website is the privacey issue and whether or not we want to put pics on the website. So far I've been looking for 100% agreement. The youth are all ok with the pics being there so now we have to go a step up and get parental permission and signatures. Other than that is the information on the website. I have made sure that absolutely NO phone numbers, no addresses and also I have tried to keep the location (city...) unknown to any one who doesn't already know what every thing is. Along the lines of info on the website is completely a personal choice and if you are concerned about things being put up about you then feel free to
email me, if you want something to be added or have taken a look at what other youth have on this website and are interested email me here and we'll see what we can do. But I definately want to pass this upkeeping on to some one else if that is at all possible.
Other
Short and simple this year the sr and jr nights will become an hour and a half each on the same night with the jrs coming first from 6:30 to 8 and the srs 7:30 - 9 during the 1/2 hour overlap there will be the game time scheduled with both the srs and the jrs. If some one has a problem with this they can talk to Rondy.
We also talked about the Halloween party in slight detail but anything that was said about that will come up again in October when we go into much more detail about the party and everything relating to that.
