Comments:
The longest song ever to chart on my charts was an amazing 30 weeks by Faith Hill back in 1998.  Incredibly, that was all in the top 20.  This year three songs managed to log 18 weeks on my chart.  Ties were broken by total points, and then by weeks in the top 10 (which is how the tie at numbers 18 and 19 was broken).  There were no songs this year with 17 week chart runs, but then there were 6 songs that managed 16 weeks on the chart.  Of the 4 songs that spent 15 weeks on the chart, the most impressive would have to be "When The Stars Go Blue" because the song never made it into the top 10.  Lastly, there were another 8 songs that spend 14 weeks on the chart.  Only time will tell if my chart lives get longer or remain the same.

Comments:
This chart is meant to show which songs averaged the best points per week this year.  To be eligible, a song had to have at least 10 weeks charted.  This is simply to keep songs that might not have charted long, but accumulated a lot of points right away.  There were a few songs that only charted for a week but earned more than 35 points in that week.  Another example would be Erasure's "Solsbury Hill."  The song has only been on the charts for 7 weeks (is still charting), but has averaged 39.86 points per week.

Anyway, now that the chart has been established, let's look at it.  Marc Anthony, who also the best chart performer for the year, tops this list with his number one hit, "I've Got You."  The song averaged just a little bit more than 35 points a week.  This means that song could have just sat at number 6 for 13 weeks instead of how it actually charted (that is assuming the song didn't earn any points for highest debut).  As with Best Chart Performance, the less weeks the song has helps it on this chart.  While X-Press 2 had the most points this year, it also had the most weeks charted, which hurt it.

Comments:
This chart is pretty self-explanitory.  Ties were broken first by consecutive over non-consecutive weeks chartedn, then on total points.  "Lazy" still manages to stay on top here, as 16 of its 18 weeks were in the top 20.  Iio racked up an impressive 15 out of 16 weeks in the top 20, while Jennifer Lopez spent her entire chart life in the top 20 with "Walking On Sunshine."  Let's move on now to the big boys, the songs that spent the most weeks in the top 10.

Comments:
This chart is also pretty self-explanitory.  Ties were again broken first by consecutive over non-consecutive weeks chartedn, then on total points.  "Lazy" again manages to stay on top here, as 13 of its 18 weeks were in the top 10.  This time though, Iio fell way back to number 17, as only 7 of the songs weeks were in the top 10.  Paulia Rubio takes the runner up spot with "Don't Say Goodbye."  11 of the songs 14 total weeks were spent in the top 10.  That's pretty impressive for Ms. Rubio.  Let's move on to even the bigger dogs, the songs with the most weeks in the top 5.

Comments:
This chart is a little small for the simple fact that I didn't feel like doing an excellent research job on it.  LOL  To be sure I wasn't missing out on any of the lower charting songs, I cut it off after 6 weeks.  The big surprise on this chart is that Paulina Rubio takes the top spot.  The song spent 10 straight weeks in the top 5.  It also never went to number one.  Six of X-Press 2's ten weeks were at number one.  Six of Dirty Vegas's weeks were also at number one.  The only other song of these not to hit number one is "Heaven," which only spent one week at number two.

Comments:
This year 27 songs hit the top spot.  Before I compiled this chart, I thought it was going to be difficult to cut it off.  But then when I looked, I realized that it was going to be very easy.  Of the 27 songs that hit number one, an astonishing 17 of them only spent a single week atop the charts.  This left only 10 songs that stayed at number one for more than a week this year.  Two songs spent 6 weeks at number one this year.  One spent 5 weeks, three spent 4 weeks, one spent 3 weeks and three spent 2 weeks atop the charts.  All in all, it was a hard year to stay at number one as I kept new music coming in droves.  Usually, if a song would stay at number one for a few weeks, it would be followed by a number of one week topping songs.  I hope in the new year that I do better at not having so many songs with short number one stays, but ... I make no promises!

Well, that was my Song Award Charts.  Hope you enjoyed them, along with the rest of the Year End Stuff.  Happy 2003!
