The Infamous and Insignificant This section is a chronological accounting of d'Philip's creative and artistic accomplishments and activities. Through a combination of personal recounts, true and factual ancedotes, resume-style reporting and a few images, links and aduio/video clips, we will examine the career and artistic evolution of d'Philip.
The Early Years (1974-1980)...A lot of personal accounts that talk about my experiences writing and producing my first play ("The Cowboy Jake"), writing and publishing my first newsletter ("The Bright One"); playing and composing music in garage bands ("Hex","Flight" and "Das Energi").
Once Upon A Winged Heart Production (1981-1983)...More personal accounts of my adventures in Chicago, Los Angelas and North Carolina as recording engineer/producer and promoter. There are some sound files of a few of the bands i worked with ("The Psycho Capones", "Daily Planet" and "The bd's"), there are some professional references of organizations i worked with also (The Cris Nassiff Agency, Soto Studios)
The Val Productions Years (1984-1987)...A stark and factual statement about my first attempt at operating a small business. We were providers of sound design and programming services on a Fairlight C.M.I. working in Chicago, Illinois. We worked with many corporate oriented clients (Sears and Roebuck, Baxter-Travenol, Walgreens Drugs), several small production companies (Industrial Light, Ware Enterprises) and many creative-artistic groups (Ministry, Dezz 7, Soviet).
Kiling Me Softly With Video (1988-1994)...During and after I went back to college at DePaul University (earned a BA in Media Communication with a minor in marketing), I gained a lot of experience working in the fields of video and television production as an editor/camera operator, writer/producer and director (The Earth Network, Christie Video, The Video Bridge). I also completed and produced three radio plays and managed to get one aired on National Public Radio ("The Sacred Bunny of Love").
The Rise and Fall of The Split/Apple (1994-1996)...During my "lost weekend" period, where i suffered a major mid-life crisis, I was the founder and general director of a not-nessecarily-for-profit underground hippie nightclub called "The Split/Apple Sanctuary". In this section you will find many stories and tales of the misadventures we had while operating 4000 square foot ware house turned hippie dungeon theater. During this time i managed a groovy jam band (Ralph's Kind), hosted a number of highly successful events (The Alternate Psycho Faire, Deadheads On Parade, The Festival of Life) and became very involved as the "hippie godfather" of south michigan avenue!
BlissAcres and The 21st Century (1998-Present)...Working by myself, mostly just writing my ass off while hiding out in Arkansas, developing a couple of books (The Secret Art of Day Dreaming, The Search For Kesey), toying with a family newsletter (Life In the Natural State), learning how to build and operate websites (BlissAcres.com), collaborating on a musical/radio project (The Symbiotic Kinship Project) volunteering some time and effort (The 2000 John Lennon Collection), working as a marketing manager with a semi-retired state of mind at a local timeshare resort (CooperShares) and trying to be a good father, husband, son, brother, human bean...
