While the scenario for this website if for my "Uncle", my inspiration for this type of website came from a real request from my father. He has been a carpenter his whole life and is nearing the age of retirment. During his career, he has built a repuation for quality work. Not only on large house projects but also on small pieces of woodwork. Anything from desks, to bookshelves, to other small wooden items. His idea for retirment is to still create these pieces and sell them online. He approached me asking to create a website where he could have people browse existing items he made and to request custom pieces. He would then give out the website to his friends and long time customers who have enjoyed his work. Obviously as a novice web designer this website does not look the prettiest but I hope for it to be a foundation for the real website that he would like me to create.

The tan and green theme fit his existing business color scheme. He obvously works with wood which is represented by the tan coloring and green is the color scheme of his existing business. The font of the logo is also close to his existing one. The layout of the website is fairly basic. The home page has the mission statement about what he hopes to accomplish. It also showcases some of his work. The inventory page lists more details such as the price and item number. The next page over is the Order page where the item number can be used to send in a purchase request. Then onto the Custom Orders page for special requests followed by the About page. I believe the website flows really well. I also strived for consistency. The header, footer, logo, navigation, and color scheme matches on each page.

If he decides to go through with this idea, the website would definitely need some improvements. I think the amount of web pages is sufficient. He did not want an overly complicated website. I would like to include more graphics with his real creations and also figure out what to do with the sidebars. It would be nice to include a slideshow of images on the home page. I feel like I incorporated most of the skills we learned in this class and will probably come up with better ideas for this site as I take more advanced web design classes.

DISCLAIMER: Because his inventory does not exist yet, I will be using stock photos found online to give the general idea about what he is planning on making.
