| Engine block VIN boss. This is representative of all V-8 engines from mid-1968 and is located on the passenger's side of the block, just below the core drain plug. All 1969s and some 1970s used the full VIN as it appears on the dash VIN tag!! 1970 and later used the last 8 characters of the VIN. |

| Assembly/displacement pad for 'B' engines is located on the passenger's side of the block, below the distributor and gives such information as displacement, performance level and final assembly as well as critical assembly info such as crank and bore over/under sizes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The assembly/displacement ID pad for 'RB' engines is located behind the water pump housing towards the driver's side of the block. It gives such information as displacement, performance level, final assembly date, bore/crankshaft over/under sizes as well as lifter bore oversizes. |
