Howling Wolf was like a stepfather to me. He taught me harmonica and more, and I was his friend and photographer in the late 60's. I took the now-iconic photo of "Wolf and Guitar" as seen used world-wide - i.e. by The Gap (khakis ad) and Time/Life (for their "Masters" CD/tape release) etc. (due to ABC re-copying the photo without my knowledge, some did not realize it was mine, so I've had to contact them about that)

Check out the photos at www.howlingwolfphotos.com and, also, please see www.howlingwolf.com for more info on Wolf's life. PS...I also have a tape of Wolf giving me a harmonica lesson and with part of his early life story on it. I'm hoping to publish this soon, in the proper way. Regards...HowlingSandy Schoenfeld

It was a dark and stormy night. Backstage at an outdoor festival, a well-known Chicago blues musician was telling a risque story about
Junior Wells. His audience of reporters, musicians and bystanders laughed uproariously as the mischievous tale unfolded. Some shed uncontrollable tears of mirth. Suddenly, with no warning, an enormous thunderclap--BOOM!--obliterated all conversation; and as it did so, the skies opened up and dropped, literally, bombs upon bombs of water upon the heads of the congregation. The crowd scattered, scrambling for cover. It took 30 seconds for all to disperse, and as soon as every last person was gone, the rain suddenly stopped. And some of us like to think that this was the Revenge of Junior, that he was listening and that we got him mad, and that we better watch what we say from here on in.
