OUT AND ABOUT            (more news p. 6)
Welcome to Warren, Woodlands, Lake Francis, Marquette, Rosser, Grosse Isle, Argyle, and all points in between! If you have recently moved to our neighbourhood, Id like to congratulate you on making an excellent choice. We offer many businesses and recreational opportunities.  The area code for all phone numbers is 204.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank, again, all the businesses and volunteer groups whose sponsorship through the purchase of advertising space makes this little paper possible. I have received many calls from readers who indicate that they read every word in the newsletter, and in fact treat it as their primary source of information about whats going on in our community. This would not be possible without our faithful advertisers! Each and every one of you deserves a great big bouquet of roses!
TWELVE YEARS! With this issue, Down Home Community News celebrates twelve years of service to the community. Thank you very much to all the businesses who have pitched in their advertising dollars to keep us appearing in mailboxes month after month.
Now that spring is finally here, lets all be good neighbours and share the roads. After a long winter, it seems that everyone is anxious to get outdoors walkers, bikers, moms with carriages, kids with dogs, and so on. It helps a lot if drivers slow down when approaching other folks, and giving them a chance to hear you coming and get out of the way.

A report from the citizens of the LUD of Warren:  Sometime Sunday March 29 we had our vehicles ransacked, with items stolen. Our neighbours also have items missing as do folks right down Hanlan St., and MacDonald Ave.,  and towards Broughton Bay. We do have some leads and have gone to the RCMP. If any one else has had issues I encourage you to report it to the RCMP in Stonewall. If not - this would be a good time to make sure your cars are locked at night. It is so unfortunate that we now are faced with these things in our small community. It is believed to be local youth that have committed several crimes recently. I am sure we would appreciate all of our neighbours to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviours.

There will be a Rural Crime Watch Meeting on Apr. 23  at 7:00 p.m., in the Woodlands Legion. For further information, please contact  Jonna Peltz 322-5585.
Knox Presbyterian Ladies Auxiliary requires vendors for a Flea Market to be held May 23,  from 9-3 p.m., at Lions Community  Centre, Stonewall. Call Lois at  467-9985.
