CHRISTIAN AID

Street Collections are held in Dovercourt in Christian Aid Week, usually preceded by a United Service on Sunday. Collections are also held at Morison's and Fiveways Supermarkets.

Our popular annual Coffee Morning/Garden Party is held in the early summer.

Other events have been held at Candlemas, One World Week in October and at Christmas. Occasional social events are held from time to time to promote the work and encourage participants in our public collections.

Individual churches also distribute envelopes, and hold their own fund-raising events for Christian Aid, as well as supporting their denominational programmes such as CAFOD, TEARFUND and SALVATION ARMY Appeal, and Christian Missions Abroad work.

A video club distributes videos of current projects with Christian Aid Partners throughout the world, to anyone interested.

Some members of the committee, clergy and lay persons, visit our local schools to promote Christian Aid work.  The schools support this work in various ways.

We support such Campaigns as Fair Trade, Break the Chain of Poverty and Make Poverty History.
