Hello I
pray that the joy of the resurrection of our precious Jesus remains with
you every day. I
write to remind you that the Annual Service for PYM will take place this
year at How
quickly this event has come around! Certainly this year we have much to
rejoice about. Encourage many to come and celebrate God’s grace
and loving kindness; joining together to praise our all powerful, all
loving Father who by His grace has saved so many young people. (The start
of revival in our area) “If
my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray ….
etc) This time has long been prayed for by many Christians in the town and
the LORD spoke in our prayer time that we need to call all His workers to
help in order to reap the harvest of souls and nurture them, laying down
His solid foundations. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that increases
God’s Kingdom, we are the willing hands and feet! Looking forward
to celebrating with you and hearing about the next stage in the exciting
journey that our sovereign Lord Jesus has set us on! God bless you
as you seek Him for the future. Lynne DIARY for 2007 PYM is the organisation that is working
for the Christian Churches of North Tendring, and thus for us, in the
Manningtree and Harwich Schools and in Christian Youthwork generally in
the area. Paul Sparrey is doing a great job as the Youth Worker but he
needs our support in prayer and through our taking an active interest in
what he is doing. A number of events have been organised
by PYM in 2007 that we can attend to show our support and you are
therefore encouraged to put these dates into your diary. These events are:
14th July
Stand at the Tendring Show 11th August
Stand at the “Party In The Park” in Harwich 3rd November
Barn Dance. Venue to be announced. |
Peninsular
Youth Ministries (PYM): Autumn
2006 News ‘GSUS
Live’
has been one of the highlights of the year for PYM, not least because it
got church members from all denominations working together, serving our Lord in the two senior schools of North Tendring. School
staff were very impressed by the whole thing and the students really
enjoyed their interactive RE lessons. We spent a week at each school and
some of the local churches put on social events at the end of the week
in their area. Many young people attended, with some dedicating their
lives to God. We
used this as a launch pad for a Youth Alpha course in each school and
these were also well attended. We believe that God is moving in the
lives of a few of the students and we continue to pray for them. I
remember one young person saying that he did believe in God, but he
couldn’t give his life up for Him – he wanted to stay in control.
There are others who think in this way and the Gospel of Jesus is a
great challenge to them and also for us as we share God’s truth. ‘It’s
Your Move’
has been another highlight for us this year, again working together with
local church volunteers. The Harwich and the Manningtree feeder primary
schools were invited to send their year 6 children and all responded
positively. There were lots of activities, sketches, and stories about
Joseph from the Bible. The main aim was to talk about their move from
primary to secondary school, giving them the opportunity to meet
children from other schools and giving us the opportunity to introduce
ourselves to them. We could thus be a familiar face for them in their
new school environment, able to provide support and advice should they
need it. This has already proved to be the case and the fact that many
of the children recognise us provides an immediate ice-breaker. ‘n:gage’
is a monthly Sunday evening Christian youth event that has been taking
place at the chapel in Little Oakley since the early summer. It is now
held on the 3rd Sunday of each month and our aim is to see
young people challenged, encouraged, nurtured and engaging in their
relationship with God. It is for 11-19 year olds from local church youth
groups, for their friends and for anyone else who would like to come
along. We have activities, a tuck shop, a worship band and guest
speakers talking on a whole range of issues. Over the Autumn school term
we are basing the sessions broadly on Youth Alpha – looking at what
Christianity is all about. Paul
