YAHWEH

YHWH

The Meaning of the Tetragrammaton

The four letters by which the Universe was created. This is four Hebrew letters (Yod, He, Waw and He) called the "Tetragrammaton". The four characters are the four Hebrew letters that correspond to YHWH and are transliterated Yahweh (pronounced yah-way). Yahweh is the name of the Almighty Father in Heaven that people commonly call "The LORD" or "God". The reason we see "LORD" and "God" in our bibles is because of a  tradition that the name Yahweh was not spoken for fear that the name be blasphemed. However, the scriptures declare that His name should be exalted (e.g. Psalm 68:4) and the third commandment forbids this practice (it may be noted also that the Hebrew word “G_D” is the name of a Syrian idol mentioned in Isaiah 65:11 introduced into Israel by Jacob’s Syrian born wives, Rachel who had taken it when Jacob fled from her father, Laban - and Leah who named one of her sons after it). Sometimes people, still following the old tradition, pronounce the tetragrammaton as "Jehovah"; If we change the vowels to Jahoveh consonants remain JHVH but when pronounced with a German accent it would be correctly pronounced Yahweh - since English is derived from the Germanic languages, pronunciation of the letters J and Y and V and W have been confused in usage. On the KYMAK website, the name of Yahweh is used in reference to the Eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Tetragrammaton is in the modern Hebrew text of the Bible which is identical to the original text found in the 2000 year old De ad Sea Scrolls and in ancient copies of the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Bible.  In the Declaration of Independence YHWH is called, "Nature's God" , "Our Creator" and "Divine Providence". In the Constitution of the United States of America, Article VII, YHWH is called "our Lord". In the preamble of the State Constitutions of the several States YHWH is called "Almighty God".
