PHOTOS AND INFORMATION ABOUT ANIMALS

COWS:

Although first and foremost a dairy breed, giving high lifetime yields from home-produced feed, by a happy coincidence, surplus male animals are highly regarded. During the 1800s, black and white cattle were imported into the east coast ports of England and Scotland from the Low Countries.

HORSES:

Long ago horses used to be very important farm animals. Farmers needed them to pull the plough, pull carts with heavy loads for transport. Today these jobs are done by machines. There are some farmers who still use horses to plough fields. A few farmers believe that ploughing is done better by horse.
