Yano is disappointed by Sachi's refusal and asks her why she can't go. Sachi
lies and says that Tatsuya's dad has come back and wants them to be back together and she
thinks it's better that way for all of them... She grabs Shoko's hand and walks off, her
eyes blurry with tears.
After they leave, Shoko asks Sachi if what she said was really true. Sachi
says half of it's true, that Tatsuya's dad is really back in Tokyo but that he's already
married and doesn't know about Tatsuya. Shoko says that Sachi better not have done this
for her sake, but Sachi says that she knows there's no way she can be together with Yano.
Yano's a real gentleman and even though he knows she's not Yuikawa Sachi, he's trying to
persevere in his feelings for her, but she doesn't want him to force himself. She likens
their situation to having buttoned up your clothes wrong, saying that no one likes to have
to undo all the buttons one-by-one again but eventually you will have to do it in the end.
Yano's sitting down on the way home (next to the cat he always talks to
while he's going home) and says to himself "so that's the end..."
Sachi gets the daycare centre woman to call Kawamura anonymously and give
him a warning to "help a girl with her difficulties or he will die within five
days"... he doesn't believe it at first, but when this thing almost falls on him
after he hangs up, he gets freaked out. Later at the station, he promises Shoko that he'll
work on her request pronto!
Ikuko goes running to Shoko to tell her how Taguchi now knows about
Iku-chan! She says that with Yano attending the infosessions with WMO, she's been in the
office alone with Taguchi a lot and Taguchi's strange behavior is really wearing her out;
he's been acting really funny and talking in this super-polite way. Shoko says that it
means Taguchi is starting to notice Ikuko, and it's time for her to "set a trap"
for him...
Ikuko comes into the office the next day, looking super-glamourous without
her glasses and wearing these really flattering clothes. Taguchi's stunned, and watches
her with his mouth open!
Yano tells Junko that he's leaving for Geneva on July 1, and asks if
Junko's told Yukimi yet, but Junko says it's better for Yano to tell his daughter himself.
She then suggests they go with him...he's taken back by her words, and says "what are
you saying?" - but she quickly retracts her words, and just tells him to buy her a
Swiss watch as o-miyage...
Sachi has found a job working in a supermarket. (I'm not sure how this is
supposed to be a step up from waitressing.... nor how it will make her enough money for
her to give up her club hostessing job... but I guess that's not the point...) She tells
Shoko that she'll start looking for a place to live next week. Sachi asks about Kawamura,
and is quietly satisfied to hear that he's been hard at work trying to help her convince
management about telling her listeners the truth.
Yano waits for Yukimi after school to tell her about the Geneva job, and
she's pleased for him, saying that she wishes she could come too. Yano decides to cook a
meal for the three of them and he and Yukimi head off to the supermarket to do the
shopping. Naturally, he ends up in Sachi's supermarket, and he's surprised to see her
working there (but he doesn't approach her, and so she doesn't know that he's been there.)
After they finish dinner, Yano asks Junko if she's serious about going
with him, saying that Yukimi wants to go... Junko says that he still hasn't changed, and
is still obliging others in what they want to do, instead of thinking about what he wants
himself. Yano's defensive, saying what's wrong with obliging my daughter, but Junko says
it's just another form of avoidance, because Yano doesn't want to bear the responsibility
of his own actions... She reminds him of when she had asked for a divorce, and how he'd
says "I guess it can't be helped" and just acceded with her request, without
ever stating what he himself wanted to do. She says that even though he knows what the
next day's weather will be like, he doesn't have any clue about what he himself wants...
he's never stated a preference - like whether he wants it to be sunny, or rainy. Junko
says she thought he would change after falling for Sachi, but he's still the same.
Yano's bothered by Junko's accusations and talks it over with Kawamura,
asking him what's wrong with obliging your own daughter. He thinks over what Junko has
said and agrees that he's probably the type that unconsciously gives way to other people,
and perhaps one can call it "avoidance", but it's his character and he's not
sure what he should do, but surely it's better for a child to be with his natural father
(now, is he still talking about Yukimi... or Tatsuya??)
Kawamura's preoccupied with his own affairs and not interested in Yano...
he suggests that they live it up and go to a club, as he "may not have long to
live"....
Shoko tells Sachi how management has turned down her request (so that's
why Kawamura thinks he's doomed!) and seems inclined to accept their decision, but Sachi
urges her to go ahead and announce it on-air without management approval, saying her fans
love her and will support her.
Kawamura and Yano are at the Glass Slipper, and Yano sees a photo of Sachi
on the wall... and realises that this is where she works at night. But when he asks for
her, the other girls tell him that she has quit.
Shoko tells Sachi what she'd heard from Ikuko about Yano leaving for
Geneva on July 1, and Sachi starts to cry. Shoko says that Sachi actually really did want
to go with Yano, but Sachi says that "...there's no way I can..."
The girls at the club then shows Yano Sachi's weather book, telling him
how much she loves the weather and tell him how they'd heard that she's now looking for a
new job, and a new place to live for her and Tatsuya. (Yano then realises that Sachi must
have been lying about Tatsuya's dad.)
Shoko makes up her mind to tell her listeners the truth. On that same day,
Yano's attending a special farewell gathering that his company has organized. As the clock
strikes 2 pm, Shoko tells her listeners how she has fallen in love with a man named Yano,
who doesn't know how to deal with love matters, even though he is very talented about the
weather. She tells them about what happened to him in high-school, and says that he's
about to make the same mistake again... and he's going to go to a place far away, leaving
behind a girl who really really wants to go with him. She says that even though one can't
control the weather, one can control matters of the heart, and that she hopes he will take
the girl with him.
Ikuko grabs the radio and takes it to the auditorium where they're holding
the farewell party so Yano can hear what Shoko's saying...
Shoko then says that the girl is Yuikawa Sachi... She then apologizes to
everyone for lying to them and says that the show's homepage is not her, but her good
friend, Harada Sachi. Her own name is Kaneko Shoko, but because she's not as attractive as
her friend, they decided to use Sachi's profile instead of her own. She also tells them
how even though she sounds very professional on-air, she's actually hopeless at handling
her own affairs of the heart. Shoko says that it's because of her love that she has the
courage now to act...
Yano makes a decision and leaves the podium. (He actually looks quite
kakko-ii walking off...) He goes to Sachi's supermarket, and finds her in the back room
where he takes her in his arms and asks her to go with him to Geneva. Sachi hesitates, but
finally puts her own arms around Yano and agrees. Yano then carries her out of the
supermarket. (This part's kind of corny...)
Shoko finishes her program, and all these faxes from her fans come pouring
in, with messages of support. Kawamura's estatic, and grabs the faxes, saying that he's
sure the management will come around once they see these. Shoko's left on her own in the
broadcasting room, and she goes to the window, looking up at the sky...
Sachi and Yano are walking hand-in-hand with Tatsuya, and Yano tells Sachi
how for the first time, he feels a decided preference for the weather - that he wished it
would rain right now because he knows how much Sachi loves rain... All of a sudden, it
starts to rain....
Taguchi's talking to Ikuko in the office, telling her how he's sorry he
hasn't noticed before but he's finally realised that he likes her... but Ikuko tells him
that it's not necessary anymore - the power of love has changed her and given her
confidence... she then thanks him and leaves. Taguchi's again stunned by her rejection...
and sends in a fax asking for Shoko's help!
