TENKI YOHO NO KOIBITO

Episode Three

At work, Yano is telling Taguchi about how he'd met Sachi in the weather gallery, but Taguchi's too busy listening to Shoko's radio program and doesn't listen. Meanwhile Sachi has already described the whole scenario to Shoko, and she seems especially wrapped up in the rain synthesis part.

Taguchi is waiting with flowers for Sachi outside the radio station but when Shoko sees him, she doesn't realise he's the guy from the weather bureau and gets the guards to take him away. Only after he's been "removed", does she see his pass - which dropped out during the struggle, and realises who he is. She panics and runs back in to find Sachi!

Meanwhile, Taguchi's been taken to the police station for questioning (they think he's a stalker or something) and he tells them to call the weather bureau to check. But when they do, Ikuko doesn't seem to want to rescue him but luckily, Yano overhears the conversation and goes to get him.

Sachi and Shoko are hiding outside the police station where Taguchi is being held, but they both don't know what to do. Yano comes in, and they both whisk out of sight and he doesn't see them and goes into the station to get Taguchi. Afterwards, he's telling Taguchi to stop bothering Sachi, but Taguchi is not willing to give up, saying that while Yano's seen Sachi twice, he hasn't seen her at all. As they get into the taxi, Kawamura comes walking out, and grabs Yano to go off drinking with him.

At the pub, Yano tells Kawamura that he's 40 and divorced ("batsu-ichi")- and Kawamura is amazed, saying that Yano's the same as him. Kawamura says he has children too - and holds up 4 fingers - so Yano thinks he has a four-year-old but then, he says no, he has FOUR children!! Kawamura is feeling very chummy with Yano and drags him off to go to a club - and it's the Glass Slipper, Sachi's club!!

Luckily Sachi sees them coming and quickly hides out of the way. She then dons a long wig as a disguise and sits at the table behind theirs. Meanwhile, Kawamura calls Shoko (who's home cooking soba for herself) to join them, and when Shoko realises that they're at Sachi's club, she hurries over (but not without dressing herself up to see Yano first...)

In the meantime, Kawamura is getting more and more drunk, and starts to talk about "Sachi" to Yano - saying how "she's so introverted and when the program first started and no listeners were writing in their problems, she made them up herself to read on the air and the problems were really convincing and made one want to cry!...but it's hard to believe that someone so nondescript and unassuming can be so good at it..." Yano's getting confused and says to Kawamura - "aren't you describing Shoko, instead"... and Kawamura answers, "...yes, yes Shoko..." To stop him from spilling the beans, Sachi bumps into this girl bearing fruit and it's dumped over Kawamura's lap. By the time it's all cleaned up, Shoko arrives and manages to check Kawamura in time so Yano doesn't find out about the lie.

Shoko gets Yano to leave, and Kawamura is left behind, passed out on the sofa. Meanwhile, as they're walking back, Shoko remembers about her soba cooking at home and Yano takes her to a noodle shop instead. They talk about what Yano had learned about the made-up letters, and then Shoko brings up Yano's divorce and he tells her how his wife found him boring - and she says in surprise "oh, but you're so interesting!" - and he answers "not when you talk about it all the time..." He tells her how he'd heard Sachi's program tell people to do something different and out of the ordinary, saying that it's actually quite hard to change oneself. He says Sachi seems so interesting and wise on air, while in person, she is impulsive and sweet. Shoko asks him if he likes Sachi, and he is taken back by her bluntness, so she apologizes and tells him about how the noodles that her mom sends her from hometown (Nagano - which is famous for its noodle products) are the best, and offers to send him some.

The next day, Sachi asks Shoko if Yano suspects anything and is relieved to hear that he doesn't, saying she didn't want him to see her like that (i.e. at the Glass Slipper).

Taguchi's feeling quite down about how he hasn't managed to meet Sachi yet, and Yano calls up Kawamura to help set up a meeting. Kawamura agrees, but is intimidated by how scary Shoko is and goes directly to Sachi, who is happy to oblige once she finds out that Yano will also be there.

The three of them are meeting in a restaurant and Taguchi is bowled over by how beautiful Sachi is. He notices that her voice is different, but assumes it's due to the interference from the radio waves. He's keen to get Sachi on her own, and signals Yano to go, but just then, he gets a call from the office, calling him back to work! (But it's unrelated to what he usually does, and he thinks it's because management is impressed with him... when it's actually Ikuko's doing!)

After he leaves, Sachi notices that it's raining and is happy. Yano finds that surprising, as most people dislike the rain but she tells him how her mother is a single parent, and her birth-dad only visited on rainy days because he's in construction and so there's no work when it rains. So she would always keep watch by the window, hoping that it would rain. She tells Yano how rain always brings her luck, saying that the day she met Yano, it was also raining... Yano seems happy to hear her say that.

At home, Junko is asking Yukimi about Yano's relationship with "Yuikawa Sachi" but all Yukimi can remember is that he said she was beautiful.

Yano asks Sachi what she had been on the verge of saying last time at the weather gallery about "Yuikawa Sachi wa..." - he tells her that Shoko also said the same thing when they met last time and he was curious what they had meant to say. Sachi looks uncomfortable and says "Yuikawa Sachi wa...........naisho desu." (secret), and asks him not to mention it anymore.

The two of them are walking back in the rain, and Sachi asks Yano if he likes Yuikawa Sachi, and when he says he does, she asks him what he likes about her... but as he's thinking about his answer, Sachi says "it's okay, don't tell me..." She then runs out from under the umbrella and lifts her face up to the rain, enjoying the feeling. Yano, smiling, watches her from behind...

Shoko's at home, calling her mom to ask her to send more noodles from Nagano - and the most expensive kind, too.

Yano comes up behind Sachi to shelter her with the umbrella, and she turns to him and kisses him, and then tells him that she likes him too. She then turns around and walks off in the rain, as Yano, stunned, watches her leave...
