As Sachi's searching out the address of Tatsuya's father, she thinks back on their encounter years ago, when she was working in a sushi shop and he was a junior chef. He was this country-boy that newly arrived in Tokyo and was always being told off by his senpei. She takes pity on him and they go out for drinks, and Sachi acts as his sounding board while he tells her how lonely he is without friends and how his senpei is so unapproachable. He talks of his dream of having his own sushi shop, and that night, they end up in bed together. Later, she finds out she's pregnant but when they meet, he tells her of how he's been offered a chance to open up a sushi shop outside Tokyo and will be transferred. Seeing how excited he is and not wanting to hold him back, she decides to keep the news of her pregnancy to herself. Meanwhile, Yano tells Taguchi how he'd seen Sachi in the streets while the show was on, and Taguchi wonders if it's a recording but then Yano tells him how Yuikawa Sachi had responded to the sudden thunder on-air... Taguchi's still doubtful and says that he will believe Sachi unless he personally sees it to be otherwise. That night, Yano tries to call Sachi that night but she's switched off her phone, so he leaves a message for her saying he has something important to ask her. Taguchi and Ikuko bump into each other as they both enter FM Sofia, but then Ikuko manages to get rid of Taguchi by summoning the guards and accusing Taguchi of stalking her. So Taguchi is taken away (poor Taguchi!) and Ikuko, seeing Shoko leave the elevator, recognises her from her last visit to the weather bureau and goes up to her. She tells Shoko that she's been writing in as "Iku-chan", and they go off to a coffee shop together, and Shoko finds out that the "irritating guy" in Iku-chan's faxes refers to Taguchi! They then head off to a beauty salon together and while they're getting beauty treatments, Shoko asks Ikuko if she is responsible for the weather bureau staff's schedules, and when Ikuko says yes, she thinks up a plan for getting Ikuko and Taguchi together. Meanwhile, Yano and Kawamura are in a pub together, and Yano tells Kawamura how he suspects Yuikawa Sachi is not Sachi but actually Shoko, and entreats Kawamura to tell him the truth. Kawamura apologizes and tells him how Shoko's the one doing the show, and that Sachi's actually a waitress in the station's caf, and her name is actually "Harada Sachi". That night, Yano gets a call from Junko asking him about news of Sachi. He says she still hasn't called him yet, and then asks Junko if she has ever lied to someone she loved. Junko says that of course she has, and she's even lied to Yano, but when Yano asks her "about what", she won't tell him. After she hangs up, she says to herself "...when I told you I wanted a divorce..." Yano calls Sachi and they arrange to meet the next day. The next morning, Taguchi finds that he's been assigned to go to Kawaguchi-ko (one of the five Fuji lakes)! When he gets into the van, he finds that (surprise, surprise!) Ikuko is to go with him. In fact, he's been scheduled to spend several days at Kawaguchi Lake!! Yano's waiting in the caf for Sachi, but as she's walking to the caf, she finds that she cannot face him, and from her hiding place around the corner, she stands there watching him while he's waiting for her inside. Finally, she turns to leave, and runs into Tatsuya's dad, who's now back in Tokyo and has his own sushi shop. He takes to the shop and inside, he introduces her to his wife... so when he asks her if she's married, she lies and says yes. Sachi and Shoko get stuck in the elevator the next morning inside FM Sofia, and after some initial panic, they settle down to eat the ice-creams that Sachi was bringing up to a customer, while they wait for help. Sachi asks Shoko if Yano's been told the truth but Shoko says she hasn't said anything because Sachi doesn't want Yano to know. Sachi then says Shoko should have admitted to liking Yano... but all this is said in a friendly and slightly apologetic way, so there's no animosity in their exchange. Shoko says in an ironic tone that if she had been able to speak out her feelings, she wouldn't be in the situation she was in right now... Sachi then asks her for Yuikawa Sachi's advice in such a situation, and Shoko says that she would probably say something like "if you don't tell him the truth, you'll never know what his real feelings are, and you may end up letting a good opportunity slip by..." she then sighs and says that it's "easy to say, huh..." Sachi asks her what she's going to do about her show today, now that she's stuck in the elevator, but Shoko says they'll realise up in the sound-room by now what has happened and will deal with it. Sachi marvels at her calm, and says that Shoko is so strong and smart, whereas she herself is such a weakling and she'd always just depended on whichever guy was nearby but then worry about them despising her for her weakness... Sachi compares herself and Shoko to these characters ("Ally and Kris") in a story that Shoko had mentioned on-air before, likening herself to "Kris" - who was always given her way but then ended up crying her eyes out, but then Shoko says she doesn't want to be "Ally", which surprises Sachi as Ally was the one with the "happy ending", but Shoko says that she didn't consider Ally's ending "happy" as Ally still envied Kris for what she had... They polish off the first two ice-creams and then start on the last two - Sachi grabbing first the one they both wanted (symbolic of Yano??) - and they're rescued while eating the ice-creams. After she finishes her show, Shoko gets a call from Yano to meet her after work. From Kawamura's hunted expression, Shoko realises that Yano knows the truth, and so when she gets there, she apologizes to him, putting the blame on herself for the way things evolved and telling Yano that though they wanted to tell him, Sachi was scared that Yano would despise her after learning the truth... in her embarrassment, she accidentally blurts out that she herself also liked Yano, and then realising what she had just said, she runs out of the restaurant, leaving Yano sitting there in a daze. Sachi quits both her day and night jobs... and decides to leave town with Tatsuya. Before she leaves, she sends a letter to Yano: "Sorry for writing to you like this out of nowhere. 'Honto ni gomenasai'... I lied to you, I am not the radio personality on FM Sofia, "Yuikawa Sachi", that person is Shoko. My real name is Harada Sachi, and I work in a restaurant inside the FM Sofia building, but because it's not enough to live on, I also work at night as a hostess in a club. That's the sort of person I am. All along, I've wanted to tell you the truth... please believe me... but I was too afraid to do so. I was scared that you'd despise me once you learned the truth. But still, I am glad to have met you and grateful to Shoko for creating the opportunity. The Yuikawa Sachi that you've considered as your girlfriend is actually Shoko. She's not like me, she's smart and hardworking. Even though she has been in love with you all this time, she has kept it to herself for my sake. There's no better person in this world than Shoko. Even to the last, I am still too cowardly to face you with the truth. I hope you can forgive me. I loved listening to you talk of the weather, and I know that whenever I should look up at the sky, I will think of you. 'Sayonara, o-genki de.... Yuikawa Sachi... and...Harada Sachi." - End of Episode Ten - |
