Taguchi and Ikuko returns from Kawaguchi Lake. It turns out that there was a marathon going on there, and because of a lack of participants, they were asked to join. Taguchi ended up ranking 184, but Ikuko came in 7th! As 2 pm rolls around, they both reach for the radio, and Taguchi says "finally! I get to hear a real woman's voice again..." earning a nasty look from Ikuko. Yano, hearing Shoko's voice on-air, thinks back to her admission of liking him. Taguchi goes up to Yano, and brings up how he had seen her in the streets during the broadcast, but Yano tells him that it's been "sorted out" and he made a mistake, and Taguchi goes away, satisfied. After her show, Shoko gets a voice-message from Sachi telling her about how she's going back to her home-town for a "breather" and will contact her later, when she's feeling more settled. Yano is offered a lucrative job at the World Meterological Organization (WMO), this really prestigious organisation in Switzerland. It's something he's always wanted but now that the chance to go to Geneva comes up, he's not sure he wants to take it... He's given a week to decide. Sachi goes home and finds her grandfather there but no sign of her mother. Oji-san seems unenthused by Sachi's visit, saying only that he hasn't kept in touch with Sachi's mom when she asks for her mom's whereabouts. Taguchi is looking for a file and comes across Iku-chan's faxes to Shoko at Ikuko's desk. He's totally shocked at the discovery! Shoko goes to see Sachi in her hometown. She tells Sachi how Yano already found out the truth about them, and how, since Sachi left town, she had to face him on her own and what a poor job she did of apologizing, and how she still squirms at the thought of what she had said... but when Sachi asks her what she said, she won't tell her. Yano tells Junko about the WMO offer, saying that he will be gone for two years if he accepts. Junko says not to worry about Yukimi as she is old enough to learn not to have to depend on her parents always being there, and anyway, she can visit Yano during holidays. Junko asks if Yano's told Sachi yet, and Yano says no, not yet... While they're relaxing in a 'furoya', Shoko finally tells Sachi how she confessed to Yano about liking him and what a mess she made of it... but Sachi says that it's good to have it out in the open, because only then will you get progress... she teases Shoko about how Yuikawa Sachi was always teaching others that on-air... Shoko bugs Sachi back, by saying that Yano may come looking for Sachi, and that she should give him the melting look Sachi gave her when she came up to her today...even Shoko was moved by the look! Later that evening, Sachi tells Shoko how she wants to ganbarre so that the next time she sees Yano, she can be proud of the person she is. Shoko says that she wants to get radio management to allow her to tell her listeners the truth about herself, and that she's tired of the alias. But she worries that her fans may be put off by the real her. But despite her worries, she feels the courage to speak out. Sachi encourages her to do so, and then says that she too plans to move ahead in life, and will look for a new job as soon as she returns to Tokyo - one with "normal working hours" so she can spend more time with Tatsuya. And once things are settled, she wants to go back to school as well. Shoko marvels at the power of love, saying even if when it's fruitless, love still gives you the energy to go on in life. At the weather bureau, Taguchi's acting super-polite to Ikuko. (He doesn't want to be seen as a ruffian!), and thanking her very carefully when she hands him a file. Ikuko then hands Yano a package, and it's from the WMO. Inside, he finds the forms to fill him for his transfer to Geneva. Up on the roof, Taguchi's puzzling over the Ikuko, Iku-chan situation, and figuring that if Ikuka is Iku-chan, then she must like Taguchi! At FM Sofia, Shoko approaches Kawamura about telling her listeners the truth about Yuikawa Sachi, and Kawamura reluctantly agrees to go to management with her request. At his infosession with WMO, Yano's asked about his arrangements to go to Geneva, but Yano still seems undecided, and answers that it hasn't been settled yet. Sachi is ready to go back to Tokyo and takes leave of oji-san, who unexpectedly smiles at them and tells them to come back whenver they like. Taguchi's listening to Shoko's program and Shoko suddenly mentions Iku-chan, and how they haven't heard from her lately. At the mention of Iku-chan's name, Taguchi gets really jumpy and goes over to Ikuko, asking her if the irritating guy is actually himself, and saying that Iku-chan is actually Ikuko, right? Ikuko freaks out, punches him in the face, and runs from the room screaming. She runs into Yano, screams again and runs off. Yano's totally bewildered and wanders into the office, where he sees Taguchi, dazed and bleeding from the mouth. But when he asks Taguchi what's wrong, Taguchi just says he's going up to the roof to check out the sky. Shoko goes to see Yano at the weather bureau, to apologize for her behavior last time. She's prepared this time, and runs through this speech about how she likes him, and likes listening to him talk of the weather, and how he's not like other men, who only thinks of women. She also likes how he is not so forward in his approach to the opposite sex, and says that she's like that herself, and can appreciate his diffidence. When Yano tries to answer, she asks him not to, saying that she doesn't want a response and it's enough for her simply to be able to bold enough to speak out, and it's the first time she's ever found the courage to speak for herself, and if he says anything now, it'll make her want to cry...\ Shoko leaves Yano standing there, and walks off. As she heads home, she runs into Sachi, who asks if she can stay at Shoko's for the moment while she's house-hunting, and Shoko starts to cry, telling Sachi how she's finally declared herself to Yano. At home, Shoko's still trying to calm herself down. When Sachi asks what Yano's response had been, Shoko says that his answer's not necessary, the important thing was that she had made her own feelings clear to him and that's enough for her. Sachi then says "so, it's finally all over..." and start to cry herself - and both Sachi and Shoko have a good cry together. Yano calls Kawamura out for a drink and Kawamura tells Yano how Shoko wants to tell her viewers the truth about Yuikawa Sachi. Yano says that it's a good thing, and in a slightly belligerent way, says it's Kawamura's fault for the deception in the first place. Kawamura asks him not to give him a hard time and to just let him drink tonight, and says that things will work themselves out... Yano envies Kawamura for his carefree personality. Yano goes on to talk about how he doesn't need "Yuikawa Sachi" to be his girlfriend, only Sachi's real background as a single parent and working as a club hostess is very difficult for a regular guy to accept... and he wonders that with the Geneva offer coming at this time, if this is meant to be "the end" for them... He says in a dispirited way that maybe he's not meant to fall in love... but no matter what, he'll always remember the two Yuikawa Sachis... (He turns back to Kawamura at this point, and finds him passed out on the bench!) When Yano gets home that night, he burns Sachi's letter. The next day, Yano calls Shoko and arranges to see her. Shoko brings along Sachi and the three of them are meeting awkwardly in this open park, and it's raining, so they've all got umbrellas. Sachi and Shoko start to apologize to Yano for deceiving him, but Yano tells them that it's ok, and he should have noticed it himself earlier. He says that his perception of Yuikawa Sachi probably wasn't real anyway, and was just an illusion.. But that he's happy to have met the two of them, and that Sachi and Shoko definitely aren't illusions to him. He tells them about his job offer to go to Geneva, and will be gone for two years. He then asks "Harada Sachi" to go with him.... The two girls are shocked at his request, and finally Sachi says "arigatou", and that he's made her very happy ... but says she cannot go with him... - End of Episode Eleven - |
