TENKI YOHO NO KOIBITO

Episode Six

Sachi's question leaves Yano speechless... in her nervousness, Sachi gets up and accidentally spills her drink. As they're fussing around cleaning up the mess, she apologizes for her question, saying the "Yano hadn't even declared his interest in Yuikawa Sachi, so it's not really a fair question to ask him, ne Shoko?"... Shoko agrees quickly and they kid each other about their ridiculous question... Yano tries to say something, but Sachi intercepts him, asking him to tell them about the weather instead.

But then Yano goes back to the previous topic, telling Sachi that he's divorced and what his ex-wife has said about how he could never understand women... He'd never expected to fall in love again and now he can't avoid the issue anymore. He tells them how he doesn't want to ridiculed by others for his behavior (ie. falling in love at 40). He then talks about his daughter, saying his ex-wife has custody of her, and she's most important to him. He says that he never meant to "rock the boat", but when a man reaches 40, he starts to think about things and while he's not hankering after major changes, perhaps some hope still lingers within... He says that meeting Sachi has caught him off-balance, but he's not sure why that is...

Sachi asks him what his daughter's name is, and he says it's Yukimi (means *Snowy*), and she's named that because it started snowing at the moment of her birth. Yano tells them how he worries about Yukimi growing apart from him, saying that with visitation rights only once every two weeks, he worries that soon she'll have other priorities and may not have time for him as she gets older. So he wants to do something "unforgettable" for her now, but doesn't know what to do... Sachi says empathetically that anything will be fine, and that Yukimi won't forget...

As they're walking back, Yano tells Sachi what Taguchi had said about her being two such totally different personalities on air and in person. Sachi asks which Yano prefers, and he says that it's because she has two such totally different personas that makes her so fascinating.

The next morning, Yano gets a call from Junko as he's leaving for work, to say that Yukimi can't meet him this weekend as she's busy. Yano's worried and goes to find Junko in her shop "Trocadero". He asks if it's because Yukimi minds about what he'd said to her regarding a new lover, and Junko replies, "so it's true... otherwise you wouldn't be so uptight about it." But then he's relieved to learn that it's only because of a friend's birthday party this weekend, and that Yukimi wants to move the visit back a week, to next weekend.

At work, Ikuko is listening to Shoko's program (she's addicted too!) but turns it off quickly when her co-workers come in...but then Taguchi turns it back on. Sachi's reading this fax from an "Iku-chan" (it's obviously from Ikuko, she looks very guilty and nervous!) and talks of this irritating guy at work (Taguchi!) who's not bad-looking but is extremely coarse. (Shoko, looking over at Kawamura, agrees that workplaces can be infested with such people.) He sits near her but is always saying how the office has no pretty girls to look at. She finds his presence distracting to her work and very irritating ... but he doesn't seem to be aware of it. (Taguchi's listening but doesn't recognise himself in the description!) Shoko tells Iku-chan that she believes she may be in love with this person - making Ikuko jump up in surprise! Taguchi agrees with Shoko, and Ikuko becomes even more incredulous! But Sachi says she envies Iku-chan because she has a dream with potential, and it is much better than knowing you love someone but not being able to do anything about it.

After the show, Shoko goes to the caf to ask Sachi what she plans to do about Yano. Sachi doesn't know but says that having heard Yano talk about himself, she feels that he's really special, and different from the other men that she's known before. She says that Yano's smart and seems to think of so many things... and she says that Shoko's like that too, wherease she herself is that and that she and Yano really are from two different worlds. Yano calls Sachi asking her out for a date, and Sachi agrees, telling Shoko that this will be the last time and she won't see him again.

Yano and Sachi goes to the race tracks (Yano got this idea while he was in a taxi the other day) and it's his first time there, so he's kind of hesitant but Sachi seems to be really at home there! She ends up winning on her bets and decides to treat Yano to drinks with her winnings. While they're in the pub, she drinks like a fish, and Yano watches her, bemused. Sachi gets really drunk and Yano suggests they stop, but she says they haven't spent all of her winnings yet. When he suggests they do it next time, she says they can't as "there's no next time..." Yano's surprised by her comment but she doesn't continue, and orders more beer instead.

Yano ends up taking a very drunk Sachi back to his place because he doesn't know where she lives. She passes out on his bed and he sleeps on the couch. In the middle of the night, she wakes up and sneaks out. She goes to Shoko's place to pick up Tatsuya, telling Shoko that it's "over".

Yano wakes up and finds Sachi's note on his bed. It says: "I'm really glad to have met you. Thanks for our time together. I will never forget you. Good-bye.... Sachi."

Yano confesses to Taguchi at work about how he's been seeing Sachi. Taguchi makes him list out all the places they've been too, and he questions Yano about his feelings towards Sachi. But Yano's answers are so vague and ambivalent that Taguchi refuses to take him seriously... he then takes out the list and asks Yano to sign it!

Sachi's out with Tatsuya in an amusement park. While she's waiting for Shoko to show up, she runs into Yano, who's out with Yukimi... and he stares at her in surprise....
