TENKI YOHO NO KOIBITO

Episode Seven

Yano introduces Yukimi to Sachi, but she stands them, dumb-struck.. Shoko who's arrived and is watching them from a distance, makes a decision and comes running over, claiming Tatsuya as her own son, and telling Yano that she's a single mom.

Afterwards, as Shoko's walking off with Tatsuya and Sachi trailing behind them, tears start to roll down her face, but she tells Sachi that it's just dust in her eyes. She apologizes to Sachi for lying like that, but Sachi tries to cheer her up, saying that it's good they've managed to preserve the image of Yuikawa Sachi in Yano's eyes.

As Yano's watching Yukimi play on the new kick-scooter that he's bought her, he starts to think back about the look on Sachi's face when he first saw her with Tatsuya... Yukimi comes over and Yano takes a turn on the scooter but he's really crap at it. Later when he drops Yukimi off at home, he promises to improve... and after a thoughtful moment, she gives him her new scooter for him to practise.

Shoko's thinking about what happened today and how she now appears to Yano as this unattractive, noodle-loving AD, and now a single mom to boot! Meanwhile, Sachi apologizes to Tatsuya - he asks "for what" - and she replies "just sorry...."

The next day, Shoko's reading out mail on her program and it's from Iku-chan again. Iku-chan's been thinking over what Shoko's said and she finds it hard to reconcile with the idea that she's in love with her co-worker, but still she does seem to be very much aware of his presence... But then, she's not really noticed as a woman in her office, anyway, and if she's really fallen for him, she's not sure what she'll do. Shoko tells her that none of us have any control over who we fall for and suggests that Iku-chan tell her co-worker what she's feeling. Taguchi, who's also listening, agrees and gets slapped in the face from Ikuko!

Ikuko goes up to the roof where Yano is and asks him "what is love?"... He looks at her in surprise, hesitates and then suggests that she goes home early if she's not feeling well (!) (Poor Ikuko! Kawaisou....)

Yukimi goes to find Sachi at the radio station and runs into Kawamura and Shoko. Shoko manages to get rid of Kawamura (by agreeing to some management request that she's been reluctant to comply with and tells him to go off to tell them) and then tells Yukimi that Sachi's gone home. Yukimi says she came to ask Sachi if she liked her father, saying that papa liked Sachi. Shoko then takes Yukimi home and runs into Junko, who invites her up to their home.

Junko mistakes Shoko for "Sachi", and when Shoko corrects her, she is quite surprised, saying that she felt sure Shoko was Sachi. Junko then says she'd like to meet Sachi to see who it is that could excite Yano's feelings. She says she can tell Sachi really likes Yano from her radio broadcasts.

That evening, Junko calls Yano to tell him about how Yukimi went to the radio station.

The next day, Shoko tells Sachi about her meeting with Junko, saying that Yano's ex-wife is this really classy lady who's beautiful and owns an expensive store called "Trocadero" that sells imported furniture.

Meanwhile, Yano goes to see Junko at her store, asking her about Yukimi's visit. Junko tells him that Yukimi's curious to see who Yano's in love with, saying that Yukimi feels like there's been a growing distance between Yukimi and Yano since Yano met Sachi. Junko then asks him if he'd be willing to give up his love for his daughter's sake, saying that it seems kind of a hard request but after all, it's not very fair to Yukimi.... nor to herself. Yano's surprised at her last words and she laughs it off, saying she was just joking.

Yano calls Shoko to thank her for taking care of Yukimi and asks to see her and her "son" Tatsuya. Shoko "borrows" Tatsuya and meets Yano at this marine zoo. Yano asks Shoko what Yukimi had been like that day at the station and is relieved to learn that Yukimi didn't seem particularly worried or anything.

Meanwhile, Sachi goes to check out "Trocadero" and is a bit embarrassed when Junko, assuming she's a potential customer, invites her into the shop. She's shocked by how high the prices are and leaves after looking around uncomfortably for a short while. As she walks away from the store, Taguchi calls her up for a date. As she's drinking beer at this caf with him, she carelessly says that she would like to change jobs (meaning her *real* job) but Taguchi, thinking about the radio program, says it would be a shame if there was no more "niji ni cinderella"... Sachi says unthinkingly that there's no reason why it shouldn't be there... which puzzles Taguchi.

Yano compliments Shoko on Tatsuya, saying that it must be easier to have a boy, and he quotes the saying about women being as unfathomable as the sea, but he prefers to compare them to the autumn sky - although he finds even the sky easier to comprehend than women! He shares this story about his high school dating experience, when his "girlfriend" suddenly broke off relations with him one night while walking home (saying something about how they should spend more time with friends or something...) even though he thought they'd been doing fine all along.. . but although he felt sad, he didn't pursue it and just let it drop and never saw her again.

At the cafe, Taguchi stands up and declares loudly his love to Sachi, asking her to go out with him. She stands up and refuses (in the same tone and stance as him!). He's cast-down and asks if it's because of Yano and she says yes, but she can't be together with Yano. Taguchi doesn't understand why, seeing as how Yano likes her too, but she won't tell him and they start drinking again.

Meanwhile, Shoko swaps her school romantic experiences with Yano, telling him how she used to wear braces on her teeth and one day, she received a call from this boy she had a crush on, asking her out. But when she got there, he was there with his friends and when he saw her, he shouted out "hey, the monster came, the monster really came!..." and then ran off. Since then, she's been scared off by the whole dating thing and she's scared of being ridiculed again. She tells him that for some reason, she always seems to pick friends who are very pretty and guys that she likes always end up falling for them (and they always seem to go for the guy too).

Shoko then tells Yano that he really doesn't seem to understand women... and he doesn't understand Yuikawa Sachi. She lets him in on a secret - that while a girl may talk of breaking up, they don't actually want to... and so if Yano in high school had spoken out his feelings, he would probably have been able to save his relationship...

When Yano gets home that night, he gets a call from Taguchi and he agrees to come out to meet him. But when he gets there, he finds Sachi there, and it seems like Taguchi had deliberately arranged for them to meet.

The two of them sit there awkwardly, and Yano comments about how it's like they're back in high school. Sachi reminisces fondly about high school, saying that she had a lot of guys chasing her then, and that Yano probably would as well, if he knew her then. Yano agrees, and she sighs, saying that she wished she had met Yano in high school.

The clock strikes 8 pm and the fountain lights up. Sachi stands up and exclaims at the beauty of it, but then Yano turns to her suddenly to say something, and accidentally knocks her off balance, so they both fall into the fountain! As they're half-sitting there, laughing, Yano gets up and says to Sachi that he loves her and he wants her to be his girlfriend....
