Alma Mater Mine (Planted 6/17/2007)
Cleveland Rocks (Planted 6/18/2005 - Officially Retired 8/31/2005)
This box was created for the 2005 Great Lakes Letterbox Gathering held at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan. Even though the theme was "Mo' Boxin' in Motown," Cleveland still had to represent! After the gathering, the box was mailed back to us and plans were to replant the box around Cleveland. But alas, what goes in the mailbox doesn't always arrive on the receiver's end, and it never showed up on our doorstep. Wouldn't have been the first time the post office lost Doodle's mail....
Duck Tape (Planted 2/13/2005 - Missing as of 5/13/2006)
Yes, it appears that The Duck has flown the coop. We checked in on him only to find that his home, the 6 trunk tree with his middle initial carved into one of the trunks, had been remodeled - and we don't think the remodelers had his permission. Two of the trunks had been sawed off, and a third, the one with his initial, had been cracked off. The Duck was nowhere to be seen. We will probably replace this box, since The Duck is near and dear to our hearts, but he won't make a reappearance until late summer at the earliest.
Jean Nicolet's Landing (Planted 5/8/2005 - Missing as of 7/29/2005 - Officially Retired 10/7/2005)
This box was a part of the 2005 Great Lakes Talk List Letterbox Exchange - "Hometown Landmarks." Thanks to Papeseed of Green Bay, Wisconsin, for having created this box, carved its stamp, and sending it to us to plant as a part of this exchange. Unfortunately, Jean Nicolet's wanderlust got the best of him, and when we checked in on him after a missing report in July, sure enough he was gone, no sign of him at all! We should have known better than to have planted him so close to a river.
Kumbaya (Planted 9/6/2004 - Replanted 9/2/2006)
Marriage is a Wonderland (Planted 6/3/2006 - Delafield, WI)
This box is our contribution to the 2006 Great Lakes Letterbox Gathering, "Wandering in Wonderland," held June 3, 2006 at Kettle Moraine State Forest in Delafield, WI. More details of the even can be found here. Since we were married on June 10, 2006, we couldn't make it to that year's gathering, but wanted to still be there in some small way. This box will eventually be rehidden in the Cleveland area at the park where our wedding photos were taken - stay tuned!
Memphis Drive-In (Planted 6/2/2007 - Lewis Center, OH)
This box was created for the 2007 Great Lakes Letterbox Gathering, "Columbus Cluez-In," held June 2, 2007 at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center, OH. Eventually, this box will be rehidden in the Cleveland area, hopefully somewhere close to the former Drive-In's location.
