In this school’s 1960 freshmen handbook, it was written that when the site for the school was chosen “the founders reasoned that anyone smart enough to find the place was smart enough to go to college.” So naturally, you’ve got to find the place where this letterbox is hidden yourself. But we’ll give you a clue to help you get there. This letterbox is planted at Doodle Bug’s alma mater, the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute. But it’s not known as that any more; the name took up too much room on the college sweatshirts, you know. This letterbox was planted in honor of her ten year reunion.Clues:
Once you arrive, wander around the campus greens and walks until you find the granite podium. Don’t worry, it’s a small campus. Take the time to climb up the three stairs and read the poem engraved into the podium’s top. Note the author’s name. A dormitory somewhere on the campus also bears this family’s name. Head over there. This dormitory, by the way, is where Doodle lived her last three years in college. Want another historical tidbit? The white house next to the dormitory was once James Garfield’s home, or so we were told (he’s the school’s most famous alumnus).
Now that you’ve found Doodle’s former home sweet home, start walking west until you’ve found a “bonney” looking building on your right.
On the right side of this building there’s a gravel and grass driveway. Take this driveway to the building’s backyard. In the middle of the backyard is a huge maple tree. Head towards this tree, then keep going north on the wide green path. When it ends, bear right onto the narrow dirt path leading into the woods.
At the sewer cover, head straight towards Zeus. With Zeus at your back, take 12 paces along the path to the right. Walk to the tree on the left side of the path that has the huge hollow at its base.
4 paces south from that tree is part of a former brick wall. 3 paces more is a multi-trunked tree.
Tread carefully and quietly; there are other backyards close by. There may be a bench in the bonney backyard for stamping in. If anyone spots you on the bench, tell them you're writing poetry.
