The Rock Hawk Mound as of July, 2007.
From Eatonton GA, take GA Hwy 16 East
approximately 12 miles to Wallace Dam road
where you will see a sign (shown below).

Two stone effigies, less than a day's walk apart.
Rock Eagle faces east, Rock Hawk faces west.
The effigy measures 102 feet from head to tail and 132 feet across the wings.  The tail is bifurcated, or split, which is consistent with Hawk anatomy.  I believe that it was constructed during the same time period as
the Rock Eagle Monument.  Shown at left is the head of the effigy.  Without renovation or an observation tower, the effigy is difficult to make out or understand.
Rock Hawk Mound, Eatonton GA
The facility has paved roads, a parking lot at the trail head and
hiking trails.

Renovation to the effigy and an observation tower are scheduled.
