In
his early years, Don grew up in a small province in the Philippines
where everybody knew everybody. This same province was my mom's hometown.
To make a long story short, when Don moved to Northern California, he
got reacquainted with my aunts and uncles on my mom's side. They, along
with other relatives and family friends in San Jose decided to play
"CUPID"! After many attempts in getting Don and me to meet,
they finally succeeded when we met for the first time at my cousin's
baptism reception...Don asked for my number...and that's how it all
started! Don and I started a long distance "NoCal/SoCal" relationship
from the very beginning...but after two years from our "meeting",
I finally moved to Northern California.
Don
decided to celebrate our two year, one month anniversary with a "special"
twist. To make a long story short, Don picked me up from my parents'
Tracy residence to keep me away that night so I wouldn't find out about
the "other" surprise. The next day, Don took me to our house
(also in Tracy) that was still being built at the time, gave me flowers...poured
out his heart and spoke some amazing, tear-jerking words...then popped
the question (surprise #1)! But that's not all...surprise #2 came when
we immediately went to my parents' house to share the great news...but
as I opened the door, I saw EVERYBODY!...Don's family, my family and
Carrie. Don and pretty much everybody else staged this whole surprise
to get his family to meet mine during this SPECIAL occassion. I was
clueless through it all! |
