Umod - a language of Kryslan
This site is to introduce you to the language of the Tylnor, the horned, shaggy inhabitants of Tylnorak in the northwest of Kryslan. Umod, literally "the language," is the Tylnor's name for their own speech.
Tylnorak is the heavily wooded mountainous region cut off from the rest of Kryslan by the Garuzolne mountain range. The deep fjords surrounding the coastline of the region allow for the ships of the Tylnor to ply far beyond their shores. The chief tribe of Tylnorak is the Fylgakyn, The House of Fylga Dorumyrgom "Battle Lord of the North."
It was Fylga who led the travelling bands of Tylnor (tylnor is the Umod word for "nomads") north into the land that would become known as Tylnorak. After traversing the treacherous Garuzolne at the head of the columns, leading the fight against the tribes of marauding Ersylan, and singlehandedly defeating the great serpent Frogar, Fylga was declared ruler of his people. The land won from these struggles became known as the Ogdafyl. Many other legends are told of these early days of the founding of the nations of Tylnorak.
The language you learn here will serve you well in many places throughout Kryslan. Umod has become a lingua franca in the dealings of merchants and shipmen.
