GREAT
PIPES ONLY DAYS AWAY
|
Inside the organ, thousands of pipes
will be fitted. Every pipe corresponds to
a particular note for a particular sound.
The Great Organ is where the foundation
sounds of the organ are found. Unlike the
Swell section, the pipes are not inclosed
in a box, so there is no capacity for
dynamic range (for that is what the swell
and choir take care of). What you see in
this picture, is the rack of the great.
Every hole will have a pipe in it. The
Great rack board pictured opposite has
hundreds of holes for each pipe. Infront
of those pipes (to the right of the
photo) is the front of the organ, where
facade pipes will be placed (you can see
two holes in the outer wooden frame of
the organ where facade pipes willl be
placed). As you can see from the rack,
some very small pipes are to be put in. |
