Breakable Chains

They bound in chains
a sinless Man.
A Man for whom now
I firmly stand.
Angels are mourning,
'tis no time to sing.
For upon the rugged cross
hangs earth's King.
A crown of thorns
on our Master's sweet head,
A slash in His side,
now our Teacher is dead.
Come all earth, 'tis time to woe
Time to weep
and watch precious blood flow.
They disgraced and shamed
the Lord's only Son.
Forgive them, sweet Father,
for what they have done.
He is laid to rest in a tomb in the dark.
Sealed with a stone to place its mark.
Three days from then, the stone is gone!
Before our eyes the Son of Man
has risen and come.
The heavens divide,
on a cloud He ascends.
His life, legend, and love never will end.
For all of you who called Him a fraud,
Did you really think chains
could hold the son of God?
Yes, world, rejoice
for now sin is free from us.
because of the death of Christ,
My beloved Savior, Jesus.
